The St. Albert Skyhawks and the McNally Tigers huddle up in the Miles division two final today at Clarke Park.
Kickoff is 2:30 p.m. and admission is $5.
The last metro Edmonton football championship for the senior football team at St. Albert Catholic High School was the Miles in 2006.
The Skyhawks are 5-3 and McNally, last year’s finalist, is 7-0.
The Skyhawks are winners of four in a row after losing 35-0 to McNally in the rain and wind Oct. 2 in St. Albert.
The Football Alberta top-10 rankings list McNally ninth in Tier II (school population 750 to 1,249) and the Skyhawks seventh in Tier III (450 to 749 students). The Skyhawks are the only Tier III team in the Miles.
Next Saturday the Skyhawks are in Peace River to play the Pioneers (6-3) in the Tier III provincial north semifinals. Last weekend the No. 9-ranked Pioneers lost their Mighty Peace league semifinal 29-6 to the Sexsmith Sabres (7-1), the No. 1 Tier IV (449 or less students) team in Alberta.
The St. Albert Riders will defend their peewee Tier 2 championship today in the Capital District Minor Football Association.
Kickoff is 11:30 a.m. against the Edmonton Black Raiders at Millwoods Park Field and admission is $5.
The Riders are 3-4-1 and the Raiders are 4-4.
The Riders lost 49-22 to the Raiders on Sept. 20.
The winner advances to the provincial final next Saturday in Calgary.
Last year the Riders finished 6-4 as the CDMFA champions and provincial finalists.
Sunday the St. Albert 49ers tackle the Millwoods Grizzlies in the Capital District Minor Football Association bantam Tier 2 final.

The winner plays the Calgary Tier 2 champion in the provincial semifinals next Saturday at Clarke Park.
The 49ers are 2-6 and Millwoods is 3-5.
The 49ers lost 56-0 to Millwoods on Oct. 10.
The St. Albert Raiders have two games scheduled this weekend in Sherwood Park against south division teams in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League.
The Raiders play the Calgary Buffaloes (6-4) today at 3:45 p.m. and the Calgary Northstars (3-4-2) Sunday at 10 a.m.
The Raiders (2-8) have won two of their last three games after starting off the season at 0-7. They are 1-4 on the road and 1-4 at home.
