The St. Albert High Skyhawks host the McNally Tigers in Friday’s metro Edmonton football doubleheader at Riel Recreation Park.

The Miles division two match kicks off at 5 p.m.

The Carr division one Battle of St. Albert between the Bellerose Bulldogs and Paul Kane Blues follows at 7:30 p.m.

Admission for both games is $5.

McNally, last year’s Miles’ finalist, is 3-0 and the Skyhawks are 1-2 after defeating the Ardrossan Bisons 28-7 last week.

Ardrossan (1-2) is ranked sixth in Tier IV (449 or fewer students) and the Skyhawks are seventh in Tier III (450 to 749 students).

The only metro team in the Tier III top-10 rankings rolled up 28 unanswered points after Ardrossan scored on its first possession with a 48-yard catch and run on third and 17.

Connor Lotoski’s second sack of the game, a seven-yard loss on third down, gave the Skyhawks the ball at the Ardrossan 34. Two plays later, Sam Cuciz connected with Bryan Breda for a 23-yard TD.

On the kick-off, Lotoski’s big hit forced a fumble and Kris Akkerman recovered it at the Ardrossan 35. Anthony Borelli danced his way to the two after a catch and Cuciz would later score from the one.

Cuciz and Breda hooked up again before the break and in the second half for TDs. Breda’s third major was set up by Brady Gonek’s fumble recovery and the ensuing drive featured strong runs by Brendon Gervais and Borelli’s catch and run.

Marco Cupelli converted all four TDs.

This week’s Metro Edmonton volleyball schedule features men’s and women’s matches in St. Albert.

Today in varsity women’s action at 4:45 p.m. the St. Albert Skyhawks host the Jasper Place Rebels in division one and in division two exhibitions the Bellerose Bulldogs entertain the McNally Tigers and the Paul Kane Blues play the visiting Lillian Osborne Legends.

Thursday’s division two varsity men’s exhibition between the Skyhawks and Oscar Romero Ravens starts at 4:45 p.m.

Registrations are being accepted for the Allison and Mike McNeill coaching clinic Saturday, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the SkyDome.

The former national senior women’s basketball team coaches will focus on junior high and high school hoops.

The cost is $30 per coach or the school/community special of $100 for four coaches.
