The St. Albert Raiders streak into the weekend as winners of eight in a row while unbeaten in 15 games in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League.
Today the Raiders (14-4-7) face-off against the KC Pats (5-17-2) at 2:45 p.m. at Bill Hunter Arena and Sunday’s game against the Lloydminster Bobcats (13-9-3) starts at 2 p.m. in the Border City.
In the north division, the Raiders trail the first-place Canadian Athletic Club (17-6-4) by three points with two games in hand.
The St. Albert Gregg Distributors Sabres have two games remaining in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League before the John Reid Memorial Tournament starts Thursday.
The Sabres (12-10-4) skate Sunday against the SSAC Southgate Lions (16-8-2) at 1:30 p.m. at Go Auto Arena and Tuesday against the Canadian Athletic Club (12-12-1) at 7 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The 37th annual bantam AAAA tournament features 16 elite teams from across western North America.
In the Reid Pool, the Sabres have games scheduled in the Integrity Industrial Supply Conference on Thursday against the Winnipeg Warriors at 11 a.m. and Colorado Thunderbirds at 8 p.m. and Friday against the defending champion Okanagan Hockey Academy at 2:15 p.m. at Go Auto Arena
The Calgary Bisons, Anaheim Jr. Ducks, Delta Hockey Academy Wild and Sherwood Park Flyers are grouped in the Skybox Grill Conference in the Reid Pool.
The Iginla Pool features the Calgary Flames, Dallas Jr. Stars Elite, SSAC Southgate Lions and North Shore Winter Club Hawks (last year’s third-place finishers and 2013 champions) in the SVS Group Conference and the Burnaby Winter Club Bruins, Edge Academy of Calgary, Yorkton Terriers and Los Angeles Jr. Kings (last year’s finalists) in the C2 Homes Conference.

Meanwhile, the Sabres will be represented by captain Jayden Platz on defence and forward Garrett Clegg at the 25th annual AMBHL all-star game today in Calgary.
Platz is the only returning Sabre from last season and Clegg leads the team in goals with 20 and points with 31 in 25 games.
