The basketball season tips off Monday for the men’s and women’s senior teams in the Metro Edmonton High School Athletic Association.
The premier conference and the women’s city conference have exhibitions scheduled before league play starts Dec. 12. The regular season in the men’s city conference gets underway Monday.

The Olympian Swim Club hosts its annual Jean Pierre Fiset international competition this weekend at the Kinsmen Sports Centre.
More than 650 swimmers, including 59 Olympians from St. Albert, are entered in the largest meet in western Canada.
Paige Kremer, 15, and Georgia Kidd, 13, are national record holders in individual events, as well as relay events with Emily Flowers, 15, and Annika Kamminga, 15.
Kremer also got her first taste of the World Cup circuit this year at meets in Berlin and Stockholm.
The 16-team bantam AAA draw has been finalized for the John Reid Memorial Tournament, Jan 19-22 at Servus Credit Union Place.
Going for the gold are the Burnaby Winter Club Bruins, Calgary Bisons, Calgary Royals, Canadian Athletic Club, Cloverdale Colts, Lloydminster Heat, Los Angeles Selects, North Shore Winter Club Hawks of Vancouver, Notre Dame Hounds, Prairie Storm of Balgonie, Sask., Pursuit of Excellence Academy of Kelowna, Semiahmoo Ravens, Sherwood Park Flyers, SSAC Southgate Lions, Wenatchee Jr. Wild of Washington State and the St. Albert Sabres.
The Sabres are in the same pool as Notre Dame, Los Angeles and Cloverdale.
The 34th annual invitational tournament is hosted by the Sabres and the St. Albert Raiders.
A new champion will be crowned with the Kamloops Jardine Blazers not returning to defend their title.
Los Angeles will make its second tournament appearance in three years after becoming the first U.S. team to celebrate a championship in 2010.
The only St. Albert team to win the tournament was the 1983 Territorial Leasing Sabres.
