The Stars are 2-1 after losing their home opener 60-7 to the Fort McMurray Monarchs (3-0) last weekend and the first-year Irish are 0-3.
This is the third year for the Stars in the AFL. The team finished its inaugural season at 6-4 after losing the championship final 41-16 to the undefeated Calgary Gators. Last year's 3-5 record included a 21-1 loss to the Monarchs in the quarter-finals.
The St. Albert Miners and Calgary Mountaineers hook up today in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
Ball drop is 5:30 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.
The Miners (9-2) and Mountaineers (6-6) are ranked second and third, respectively, in the senior B standings.
The Miners are undefeated in three games and the Mountaineers are winless in three games.
The 2014 Presidents' Cup national bronze medallists and provincial champions have four games scheduled in July before the playoffs start.
The St. Albert Cardinals and South Jasper Place Jays have a peewee AAA doubleheader scheduled Sunday at Legion Memorial Park.

The Cardinals are 20-8-1 overall. They are 12-5-1 in the Baseball Alberta league, which includes an 8-3 mark in the provincial round.
The Jays are 5-2 in the provincial round and 8-2 in league play.
The top team is the Okotoks Dawgs at 9-0 in the provincial round and 16-0 in league play.
In the recent Doc Plotsky Memorial Tournament final in Sherwood Park the Cardinals rallied to beat Okotoks in extra innings.
Last year the Cardinals defeated Okotoks for provincial honours.
Sunday's junior B Tier 1 match between the St. Albert Crude and the Calgary Shamrocks in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League starts at 12:30 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The Crude (6-9 in the north) and Shamrocks (6-6-2 in the south) are slotted fourth in their respective divisions.
Last weekend the Crude lost 21-6 and 10-7 to the south division-leading Saskatchewan SWAT (10-3-1) in Saskatoon.
Simon Hansen led the Crude in scoring with four goals and in three assists in the weekend series.
Next weekend the Crude plays the Manitoba Blizzard at 8:30 p.m. Friday and 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Akinsdale Arena. The Blizzard (10-4) are ranked second in the north.
