Hollett was a founding director of the Merchants and the head coach of the junior B team for eight seasons.

The Riders are 6-3 and the Chargers are 5-3-1 in the Capital District Minor Football Association.

In the Johnny Bright division the fourth-place Chargers handed the second-place Riders their first loss of the season after four wins, 20-14 last month at W.P. Wagner High School.

Both teams posted shutouts last weekend in the tier II semifinals at the Riel Park turf field. The Riders beat the Fort McMurray Ravens (3-5) by 31 and the Chargers knocked off the Edmonton Black Raiders (4-3-1) by 18.

Tonight at 7 p.m. the St. Albert Steel plays the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion Spruce Grove Saints at Grant Fuhr Arena.

The Steel’s record was 3-14-2 going into Friday’s game against the Bobcats in Lloydminster. The score was unavailable at press time.

The third road game in a row for the Steel is against the Sherwood Park Crusaders today at 2:15 p.m.

Next week the Steel skate at home against the Saints on Tuesday and the Drayton Valley Thunder on Thursday. Game times are 7 p.m. at Performance Arena.

The St. Albert Sabres host the Canadian Athletic Club tonight in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League. Puck drop is 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The Sabres (6-2-2) trail the second-place Canadians (7-1-2) by two points in the nitro north division.

Tuesday the Sabres face off against the KC Squires (3-7) at 7:45 p.m. at Coronation Arena.

Entries are being accepted for the St. Albert OK Tire Men’s Bonspiel, Nov. 17 to 20 at the St. Albert Curling Club.

The $240 entry fee includes a perogy dinner Saturday. Every rink is guaranteed three games.

Cash prizes and a draw for a set of four winter tires valued at $800 are also part of the fun.
