Cam Mazur, Mark Matsuba, Joshua Mahura and Ethan Lazaro scored and Patrick Dea stopped 38 shots against the division-leading Canadian Athletic Club (6-1-2) Saturday at Coronation Arena.

Lazaro, Matsuba, Curtis Peck and Joshua Perrott filled the net and Matt Murray turned aside 39 shots against the Flyers (5-2-1) Sunday in Sherwood Park.

A victory tonight by the Morinville Jets would extend their lead in the west division of the Capital Junior B Hockey League. Game time against the Edmonton Mustangs (4-7) is 8 p.m. at Bill Hunter Arena.

The Jets improved their record to 8-2-1 with Sunday’s 4-1 decision against the Stony Plain Flyers (0-9-1).

The next junior B home game for the St. Albert Merchants is Friday against the undefeated Edmonton Royals. Puck drop is 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The 6-4-1 Merchants dropped to fourth place in the west division after road losses of 5-3 against the Sherwood Park Knights (8-1-1) and 6-4 against the Spruce Grove Regals (8-3) last weekend.

The Royals lead the east division with 11 wins.

In the north conference the Flyers trail the first-place Rage (7-0) by six points.

The Flyers are 3-2-2 after Sunday’s 2-1 squeaker against the KC Centennials (1-3-2) at Callingwood Arena. Andrew Kary and Zack Gonek scored in the last three minutes of regulation time to erase a one-goal deficit. Shots were 30-20 for the Flyers. In net was T.J. Bartlett.
