Bellerose is 1-3 as the worst defensive team in the conference with 153 points against. Paul Kane is 0-3 as the lowest scoring team with 18 points.

Both teams are coming off disappointing losses. Bellerose (1-5 overall) was crushed 41-2 by the Austin O’Brien Crusaders (3-0), ranked first provincially in tier II. The first conference win in two years by the ninth-ranked tier II Archbishop Jordan Scots was 32-17 against Paul Kane (1-3 overall).

The puck drops tonight at 7:45 p.m. between the St. Albert Sabres and Leduc at Akinsdale Arena in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Sabres are 2-1 after dropping a 2-1 decision Saturday in Lloydminster. Ethan Lazaro scored and Patrick Dea stopped 39 shots, including 22 in the first period.

The St. Albert High Skyhawks host the Salisbury Sabres in high school football action Thursday. Game time is 5 p.m. at the Riel Park turf field. Admission is $5.

The Skyhawks are tied for fourth place at 1-2 and Salisbury is third at 2-0-1 in the Carr conference standings.

In the Football Alberta rankings, the Skyhawks (1-3 overall) are listed seventh in tier III and Salisbury (5-0-1 overall) is number two in tier I.

A record 67 teams are competing for medals at the 13th annual Turkey Ring tournament, hosted by the St. Albert Ringette Association.

The age-group divisions are U9 bunny, U10 novice, U12 petite A, B and C, U14 tween A and B, U16 junior A and B and U19 belle A and B.

The 120-game schedule starts Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the petite A division and ends with the belle B final Monday at 4:30 p.m.

The majority of the games will be played at Servus Credit Union Place.

Friday’s fight card at the Maximum Fighting Championship features five members of the Hayabusa Training Centre Ltd., located in the Campbell Business Park.

The Hayabusa fighters include Ryan Jimmo (vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in the 205-pound light-heavyweight title fight), Allen Hope (vs. Terry Martin, 185 pounds), Mike Froese (vs. Dajan Kajic, 170 pounds), Garret Nybakken (vs. James Haddad, 155 pounds) and Neal Anderson (vs. Dan Ring, 155 pounds).

The mixed martial arts event will take place at the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre and will be televised live on HDNet.
