The Blues are 9-0 as the Miles conference champions in the metro Edmonton league and the Celtics are 9-2 as the Mighty Peace League finalists.

In the Football Alberta rankings the Blues are No. 2 and the Celtics are No. 5 in Tier II (750 to 1,249 students).

The winner will challenge the Austin O’Brien Crusaders or Lloydminster Barons in the north final next Saturday in Edmonton or Lloydminster. AOB and the Barons huddle up today in the Border City.

AOB, two-time defending Tier II champion, is 3-4 as a non-playoff team in the metro league’s Carr conference and hasn’t played since Oct. 17.

AOB is ranked 10th and the Lloydminster team is unranked.

In the south semifinals today the No. 1-ranked Foothills Falcons (10-0) of Okotoks visit the No. 4-ranked Hunting Hills Lightning (8-1) of Red Deer and the No. 9-ranked St. Mary’s Saints (2-6) of Calgary line up against No. 3-ranked Catholic Central Cougars (6-1) in Lethbridge.

The north and south champions advance to the Alberta Bowl on Nov. 22.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Hellard Field in Calgary’s Shouldice Park.

The St. Albert Raiders skate twice this weekend in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League.

Today at 5:45 p.m. the Raiders (6-4-2) face-off against the Southside Athletic Club (6-3-3) at Bill Hunter Arena and Sunday they host the UFA Bisons (8-5) at 1:15 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The Raiders are 2-2-1 in their last five games.

The league’s No. 1 defensive team with 23 goals against also ranks among the lowest scoring teams.

Sunday the St. Albert Merchants resume their rivalry with the Morinville Jets in the Capital Junior B Hockey League.

Puck drop is 6:45 p.m. at Ray McDonald Sports Centre.

In the league opener the Jets edged the Money Men 6-5 in overtime at Akinsdale Arena.

The Merchants (11-1-1) were ranked No. 1 in league play before Friday’s road game against the Fort Saskatchewan Hawks (9-4). The score was unavailable at press time.

The Jets (5-7-1), winless in three games, lead the league in penalty minutes with 584, compared to 355 for the Merchants.

The next home game is Nov. 15 against the Spruce Grove Regals (5-8) at 8 p.m.
