The Capital District Minor Football Association playoff bracket has been finalized for St. Albert teams in the atom, peewee and bantam semifinals this weekend.
Today in atom Tier 3 the Buccaneers (6-1) and Vikings (5-2) battle at 5:30 p.m. at Riel Recreation Park.
The Bucs blanked the Vikings 18-0 in league play.
Sunday in peewee Tier 2 the Riders (2-5) and the Colts (1-6) hook up at 10 a.m. in St. Albert.
The Riders knocked off the Colts, last year’s Tier 4 CDMFA champions and provincial finalists, 30-6 in league play.
In the bantam division the Fury (5-1-1) are competing in Tier 1 and the 49ers (5-1) will defend their Tier 3 CDMFA crown.
Today at 12:30 p.m. the 49ers play the Edmonton Seahawks (5-1) at Fuhr Sports Field in Spruce Grove.
The Seahawks handed the 2012 Tier 3 provincial north finalists their only loss in league play, 48-36.
Sunday the Fury and Edmonton Chargers meet for the second week in a row. Kickoff is 5:30 p.m. in Spruce Grove.
Last weekend the Chargers (5-1-1) rallied from a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the Fury at 30-all in St. Albert.
The metro Edmonton high school junior football playoffs kick off Monday for the Paul Kane Blues and St. Albert Hawks.
In division one, formerly known as the premier conference, the Blues (second in pool B at 4-1) and the Jasper Place Rebels (third in pool A at 2-2) clash at 5 p.m. at Clarke Park.
The winner plays the Salisbury Sabres (first in pool A at 4-0) in Thursday’s semifinal at 5 p.m. at Clarke Park.
The Bellerose Bulldogs, last year’s premier champions, huddle up Thursday against the Memorial Marauders (third in pool B at 3-2) or Bev Facey Falcons (second in pool A at 3-1). Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at Clarke Park.
The Bulldogs (5-0 in pool B) are 15-0 since losing the 2011 premier semifinal.
In division two, which used to be the city conference, the Hawks (0-5 in pool B) and Harry Ainlay Titans (0-4 in pool A) line up at 5 p.m. at Johnny Bright Park.
The winner advances to Thursday’s semifinal against the O’Leary Spartans (fourth in pool B at 2-3) at 5 p.m. at Johnny Bright.
The Hawks are winless in eight games since beating the O’Leary Spartans 20-0 in the 2012 regular season finale and the junior program at St. Albert Catholic High School is 1-20 since the 2010 regular season.
