The Steel complete their exhibition schedule Sunday in Whitecourt against the Alberta Junior Hockey League champion Spruce Grove Saints at 2 p.m.

League play starts Sept. 9, when the Steel visit the Olds Grizzlys at 8 p.m.
The Steel home opener is Sept. 16 against the Crusaders at 7 p.m.
The tier IV men’s and women’s provincial soccer championships are underway in Calgary for several local teams.
Chester City (10-2-2) and GSE (10-3-1) are representing the St. Albert Men’s Soccer League in the eight-team men’s draw.
The Morinville Ladies (17-0-1), the top team in the St. Albert Women’s Soccer League, and St. Albert Impact 2 (11-2-1), the first-place division 3A team in the Edmonton District Soccer Association, are competing against four other teams in the women’s tournament.

The second division semifinals in the St. Albert Women’s Soccer League (SAWSL) kick off Monday at Riel Park.
The first-place Mavericks 95 (12-1-1) play the fourth-place Devils (6-6-2) at 4:30 p.m.
The playoff between second-place SA Force (10-2-2) and third-place Snipe (10-3-1) starts at 6:30 p.m.
The winners advance to the Sept. 11 final at 4:30 p.m. at Riel Park.
Playoff action continues Tuesday in the St. Albert Men’s Soccer League (SAMSL) for teams in the A and B brackets.
At 6:30 p.m. at Eldorado field, Crossfire squares off against SA City and defending champions Arsenal take on the AC Youngboys.
The group leaders after the round robin qualify to play Chester City and GSE in the Sept. 13 semifinals. Game times are 6:30 p.m. at Eldorado.
The final is Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Riel Park turf field.
The regular season kicks off Thursday for St. Albert’s high school football teams in the Metro Edmonton league’s Carr conference.
The Paul Kane Blues huddle up against the 2010 champion Salisbury Sabres at 5 p.m. at Clarke Park.
At the Riel Park turf field, the St. Albert Skyhawks host the Archbishop Jordan Scots at 5 p.m. and the Bellerose Bulldogs tackle the Bev Facey Falcons at 7:30 p.m.
