Today the Raiders (1-0-1) travel to Leduc to play the Oil Kings (1-0-1) and Sunday they host the Calgary Flames (1-1) at Akinsdale Arena. Game times are 1:15 p.m.

The Raiders started league play last weekend with a 1-1 draw against the Oil Kings in St. Albert and posted a 3-1 win over the KC Pats (1-1) in Edmonton.

Today at 4:45 p.m. the St. Albert Slash and Sherwood Park Fury hook up in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.

Game time is 4:45 p.m. at Northstar Hyundai Arena.

The Slash (1-5-1) were winless in four straight, including two shutout losses, before Sunday’s 3-3 draw against the Red Deer Chiefs in the third game in three days at the AMMFHL showcase weekend in Lethbridge.

The lone Slash win was 3-2 against the Fury (1-6) Sept. 15 in St. Albert.

Rachel Rochat is the top Slash goal scorer with four and shares the team lead in points with Jamie Jones at five apiece.

Natalie Bender (1-2, 3.77 GAA) is among the goaltending leaders in saves with 114.

Meanwhile, defenceman Abby Benning was named to Team Alberta for the National Women’s U18 Championship, Nov. 6 to 10 in Calgary.

The next home game for the St. Albert Sabres is Sunday against the Sherwood Park Flyers.

Puck drop is 3:45 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The Flyers were 1-3 in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League before Friday’s game in Leduc against the Oil Kings. The score was unavailable at press time.

The Sabres were coming off their first win of the season, 3-0 against the host Fort Saskatchewan Rangers on Tuesday.

Chris Curr (1-1, 1.51 GAA) stopped 34 shots for the shutout.

Jack Langenhahn scored twice and Lucus Palladino opened the scoring in the first period with his team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Langenhahn, the top-scoring Sabre with five points, and defenceman Matt Kasowski are the only returning players on the team.

Sunday the St. Albert Merchants entertain the Beaumont Chiefs in the Capital Junior B Hockey League.

Faceoff is 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The Merchants stood first in the west division at 3-0-1, prior to Friday’s road game against the Stony Plain Flyers. The score was unavailable at press time.
