The St. Albert Rugby Football Club’s Division 2 women’s team returns to the pitch this weekend as they take on the Pirates Saturday at 1 p.m. at Leading Edge Field.

The women will be looking for their first win of the year after finishing the Edmonton Rugby Union’s spring seeding round with a record of 0-7, which landed them in the second division. They started play in that division on June 29 with a 36-17 loss to the Druids 2.

Meanwhile the men’s second and third division teams are in Grande Prairie this weekend to take on the Centaurs.

The St. Albert Tigers Orange will also be searching for an elusive win this weekend as they take on the Fort Saskatchewan Athletics tonight in Fort Saskatchewan.

The junior squad was 0-10 through June 23, but have since played two games — one each against the Red Deer Stags and the Red Deer Riggers. None of the scores are available.

The Tigers Orange then clash with their senior counterparts, the St. Albert Tigers Black, on Tuesday, June 12 at 8 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

The St. Albert Impact Rangers will face a tough test tomorrow night as they square off against Africana FC in Edmonton and District Soccer Association premier division action.

The Impact Rangers (4-2-3) sit in fourth place in the premier division standings, just two points ahead of Africana (3-3-4). Africana forward Franklin Mahulo is in a five-way tie for second place in league scoring with five goals on the year, while no St. Albert player has cracked the top 10.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at the St. Albert Soccer Association grounds.

A pair of St. Albert Minor Hockey products are taking centre stage alongside the first overall draft pick this week as the Edmonton Oilers host their annual development camp at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park, which runs until Saturday.

Goaltender Tyler Bunz, drafted by the Oilers in the fifth round of the 2010 National Hockey League draft, and centre Travis Ewanyk, drafted in the third round this year, will take part in the camp, lining up alongside 2011 top pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, formerly of the Red Deer Rebels.

Other Oiler prospects participating include goalie Olivier Roy, defencemen Dillon Simpson and Colton Teubert, and forwards Cameron Abney, Curtis Hamilton and Anton Lander.

All of the on-ice sessions are open to the public and run from 10 a.m. to noon each day until Friday. Saturday will feature a three-on-three tournament from 9 to 11 a.m.
