The Team Giroux versus Team Spezza intersquad game starts at 11 a.m. at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ont.

It wraps up the invitation-only mentorship camp hosted by the National Hockey League Players’ Association under the leadership of former NHL player Gary Roberts.

Mahura is one of 10 players from Alberta at the five-day camp.

The captain of the 2012/13 bantam AAA St. Albert Sabres was selected by the Red Deer Rebels in the second round (36th overall) as the ninth defenceman taken in the Western Hockey League bantam draft.

The Alberta Zone U15 Baseball Championship is up to bat this weekend at Legion Memorial Park.

The round robin features eight zone teams split into two pools.

The Zone 5 team includes Dylan Gates and Ross Supruniuk of the bantam AAA St. Albert Cardinals. They are listed on the 13-player roster as pitchers, first basemen and outfielders.

Cardinals field manager Dave Maguire, the 2012 recipient of the Baseball Alberta Ted Rudd Coach of the Year Award, and assistants Fred Mills and Mark Brisson are the Zone 5 coaches.

Zone 5 is pooled with Zone 7, Zone 3 (Calgary) and Zone 4.

Zone 5 plays today against Zone 3 at 12:15 p.m. and Zone 4 at 6:15 p.m.

The top two teams in both pools advance to Sunday’s crossover semifinals and the remaining teams compete for consolation honours.

Sunday’s medal finals start at 3 p.m. for bronze and 3:15 p.m. for gold.

The Alberta Football League semifinal between the St. Albert Stars and Central Alberta Buccaneers kicks off Sunday at 2 p.m. in Lacombe.

In league play the Bucs finished second at 5-1 and the Stars tied for third at 3-3 in their first AFL campaign.

On the road the Stars beat the Bucs 29-27 in exhibition play and lost 46-14 in the regular season.

The winner tackles the Calgary Gators (6-0) or the Calgary Wolfpack (4-3) in the AFL final.

In the opening playoff round the Stars posted a 26-6 win over the Lloydminster Vandals (1-6), last year’s AFL and national champions, and the Bucs had a bye.
