The division one St. Albert Impact teams in the Edmonton District Soccer Association wrap up league play this week before the crossover playdowns kick off Aug. 13.

Wednesday the 1B Impact squad tackles the Scona Blues at 7 p.m. and Saturday the 1A Impact Rangers battle AS Roma at 6 p.m. Both matches are scheduled for the ESA Complex.

In the 1B table Scona (9-2-2) is first and the Impact (8-4) are second.

The Impact are led by Cohen Cassidy’s nine goals and Evan Gallant is second in team scoring with five.

The Rangers (8-3-1) are second behind AS Roma (13-0) in the 1A table.

David Letourneau and Luis Davalos have six goals apiece for the Rangers, a former longtime premier team.

If the Rangers and Impact finish second in their respective tables, they will meet in the Aug. 13 playdowns. The winner will play the loser of the AS Roma/Scona tilt for the right to go to the Tier II provincials Aug. 30 to Sept. 2 in Calgary.

The Impact premier team kicks into action Thursday against Punjab United in the second-last match of the season. Start time is 7 p.m. at the ESA Complex.

Jeff Bruha is the top scorer for the fifth-place Impact (6-7-3) with 12 goals.
