The next game for the St. Albert Cardinals in the Norwest Midget AAA Baseball League is tonight against SEEBA 1 at 7 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.
The Cardinals were 2-10 in league play before Tuesday’s game against Sherwood Park Green. The score was unavailable at press time.
Last weekend at the American Legion tournament in Medicine Hat the Cardinals lost 9-0 to the Lethbridge Elks, 4-1 to the Calgary Blues and 13-3 to the Saskatoon Giants before winning their last game 3-2 against the Moose Jaw Cardinals.
The senior B St. Albert Miners host the Edmonton Outlaws tonight in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League. The ball drops at 8 p.m. at Performance Arena.
Both teams sport identical 4-3-1 records.
Last Saturday in St. Albert the Outlaws edged the Miners 8-7 in overtime. Sean Reid and captain Nate Schmidt scored two goals apiece in the loss.
The last game for the Miners was a tight 5-4 decision against the visiting Okotoks Raiders on Sunday. Graedon Cornfield’s game winner on the power play with 46 seconds remaining in regulation time capped off a three-goal outburst in period three.
Schmidt also tallied three times and Chris Schmidt scored once.
The Miners capitalized four times with the man advantage.
The St. Albert Tigers are up to bat Friday night when the senior AAA Black and junior AAA Orange teams play ball in the Sunburst league. The first pitch goes at 8 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.
The Tigers Black were 1-2 prior to Tuesday’s match against the Fort Saskatchewan Athletics. The score was unavailable at press time. In previous games against the Athletics (3-0), last year’s provincial finalists and 2009 national champions, the Black lost 9-2 in the season opener and 5-4 Sunday in St. Albert.
The Tigers Orange are 0-6, including a 10-2 loss against the Black.
Last weekend at home the Orange were outscored 21-5 in Saturday’s doubleheader against the Red Deer Riggers (3-1), the defending provincial champs, and 22-1 by the Red Deer Stags (3-1) in Sunday’s twin bill.

The Paul Kane Blues have controlled scrimmages scheduled Saturday at the Riel Park turf field.
They play the McNally Tigers at 3 p.m. and the Beaumont Bandits at 7 p.m.
This is the first year for Paul Kane football in the Metro Edmonton High School Athletic Association. They will huddle up in the Carr conference, along with the Bellerose Bulldogs and St. Albert High Skyhawks.
