More than 1,000 players and 260 volunteer coaches will participate in the St. Albert Soccer Association’s annual weekend soccerfest at Riel Park.
Today’s Timbits Jamboree features 48 teams in the U4, U5 and U6 age divisions.
Sunday’s Nutrilite Active Start event includes 38 teams in U8 and U10.
Representatives from FC Edmonton in the North American Soccer League will be in attendance both days.

The St. Albert Tigers Orange junior AAA team has two doubleheaders on tap this weekend in the Sunburst Baseball League.
The Orange host the 2010 senior AAA provincial champion Red Deer Riggers today and the Red Deer Stags on Sunday. Game times are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.
The Orange are 0-2 after losses of 10-2 against the St. Albert Tigers Black and 13-0 against the Fort Saskatchewan Athletics, the senior AAA provincial finalists last year and 2009 national gold medallists.
Kickoff is 2 p.m. today between St. Albert and the Rockers at the Leading Edge Physiotherapy Fields.
St. Albert is 0-4 (19 PF/320 PA) and the Rockers are 2-2 (129 PF/170 PA) in the Edmonton Rugby Union women’s spring league.
The eight team round-robin tournament determines the teams in the Alberta premier division and Edmonton’s second division. Those leagues start play in late June.
St. Albert’s premier men’s rugby team hits the road today in search of its first victory of the year.
The 2010 provincial champions visit the Titans in Red Deer at 3:30 p.m.
St. Albert is 0-3 and the Titans are 0-2 in the Alberta Cup standings.
The St. Albert Miners have games scheduled this weekend at Performance Arena in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
In senior B action the Miners (3-2-1) host the Edmonton Outlaws tonight at 8:30 p.m. and the Okotoks Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
The last win for the 2010 provincial champions and sixth-place finishers at the President’s Cup was 18-7 against the junior A Edmonton Eclipse last Saturday.
In the junior A division the Miners (3-6) play the Calgary Mounties tonight at 6 p.m. and Okotoks at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The juniors are coming off Wednesday’s 9-5 home win over the senior B Spruce Grove Slash.
