The St. Albert Cardinals return to the Norwest midget AAA diamond tonight against Spruce Grove White Sox 1.
First pitch is 7 p.m. at Henry Singer Ball Park in Spruce Grove.
The Cardinals are 3-6 in their last nine games and 9-7 in the Norwest league standings. Spruce Grove is 6-9.
This weekend the Cardinals host the first-place Calgary Dinos (17-1) Saturday and the third-place Okotoks Dawgs Red (10-3) Sunday. Game times are 12 and 3 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.
Last weekend at the 10th annual Peter Devries Invitational Tournament the Cardinals scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to edge Spruce Grove 10-9, lost 12-3 to the host SEEBA 1, the eventual tournament champions, beat the St. Albert Junior Cardinals 3-2 and in the consolation side ripped the Calgary PBF Redbirds 15-1.
Players of the game were Jake Fischer against Spruce Grove, Alex Marthiensen against SEEBA, Erik Sabrowski against the Junior Cardinals and Tanner Karpinski against Calgary.
The St. Albert Tigers continue their Sunburst Baseball League season tonight against the Fort Saskatchewan A’s.
Game time is 6:45 p.m. at Fort Saskatchewan.
Friday the Tigers host the first-place Red Deer Riggers at 7:30 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.
The Tigers (3-4) are ranked fourth in the five-team standings, six points back of the Riggers (6-2) two behind the A’s (4-4).
Meanwhile, the 30th annual Tigers Baseball Association is scheduled for July 12 to 14 at Legion park. The eight-team senior AAA draw features payouts of $150 per round robin win, $400 to the finalist and $800 to the champion.
The tournament was shifted from its traditional mid-June slot after it was rained out the past two years.
The St. Albert-based NAMLC Drillers will have home floor advantage this weekend at the Alberta Lacrosse Association junior B ladies championship.
The top three teams in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League and a north division host will compete for medals.
Games are scheduled Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Servus Credit Union Place and the Akinsdale and Kinex arenas.
The Drillers are second in league play at 8-5.
