Tonight marks the first match on home turf for St. Albert’s women’s rugby team in the Edmonton Rugby Union’s spring league season.
The ladies will be looking to for a strong start to the 2015 season after dominating the competition in the 2014 provincial second division championships.
They will try to get off on the right foot against the Parkland Sharks at 7 p.m. at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club fields.
The boys of summer have been in full swing all over St. Albert and the capital region for a few weeks, but tomorrow night will mark the first home action for the senior AAA St. Albert Tigers.
The Tigers will face the Confederation Park Cubs in their home opener in the Sunburst Baseball League.
The game starts at 7:30 p.m. on the main diamond at Legion Memorial Park.
The St. Albert Crude lacrosse team will face the Edmonton Warriors this Thursday at Akinsdale Arena.
The two Junior B Tier 1 teams will go head to head in Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League action. The fourth-ranked Crude will look to improve their 1-4 record with a win over the second-place, 3-1 Warriors.
The game starts at 8:30 p.m.
The Bellerose Bulldogs will see some exhibition action on the gridiron this Friday against the Austin O’Brien Crusaders.
While it won’t help either team’s record, it promises to nonetheless be a good matchup at Johnny Bright Park in west Edmonton. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
St. Albert Rugby Football Club men will face the Edmonton Rugby Football Club Pirates at 7 p.m. in St. Albert.
The men will have their work cut out for them against the Pirates, who were provincial finalists last season.
Following on the success of last year’s inaugural event, the second annual Rainmaker Rodeo Tournament, the St. Albert Junior Cardinals will host competitors all weekend at Legion Memorial Park.
The tournament is the first of four sanctioned in the North Central Alberta Baseball League’s 2015 tournament schedule.
