Tonight the St. Albert Impact 1 team hosts Karpaty/Juventus in the division 1B fixtures in the Edmonton District Soccer Association. Kickoff is 8:15 p.m. at the Riel Park turf field.
The Impact 1 started the season with a 2-1 decision against Polonia last week in St. Albert.
Thursday at 8:15 p.m. the St. Albert Impact Rangers play Croatia/AC Milan at the turf field in the premier men’s division.
The Rangers are coming off a 2-1 season-opening victory against AS Roma last week in St. Albert. Ryan Sebastianelli scored the tying goal and Dan Kent netted the game winner off a deflection in the second half.
Meanwhile, the St. Albert Impact 2 team improved to 1-1 in Monday’s 4-1 win over the visiting Drillers. Evan Gallant, Igor Jovanovic and Mark McQuaid scored and the Drillers put a ball into their own net.
Impact 2 keeper Allister Latham-Rubic gave up one goal on a deflection.
The team’s oldest player, 41-year-old Sam Bazzarelli, played the full 90 minutes in the backs while anchoring the defence.
The next match for the Impact 2 is Saturday against Roots United at 2 p.m. at the ESA Complex.
The first home game this season for the 2010 senior B provincial champion St. Albert Miners is tonight against the junior A Edmonton Eclipse. The ball drops at 8 p.m. at Performance Arena.
Last weekend in Okotoks the Miners dropped their Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League opener against the senior B Raiders 12-8. Steve Tessarolo led the Miners in points with two goals and three assists. Jordan Cornfield, Kyle Schram, Kyle Weiher, Sean Reid, John Lintz and Graedon Cornfield also scored.
The following St. Albert Rugby Football Club teams will ruck and maul against their rivals from the Clan this weekend.

The bantam AAA St. Albert Cardinals are flying high after their successful season-opening weekend in Okotoks.
The Red Birds needed nine innings to edge Spruce Grove 7-6. Aaron Larose struck-out eight over three innings while giving up one hit. Connor Burns picked up the win with 1-2/3 scoreless innings.
Four pitchers combined on a two-hitter while striking out seven as the Cardinals doubled the Okotoks Red Dawgs 6-3.
Mat Brisson fanned 12 and scattered two hits over 5-2/3 innings in the 13-3 victory over Sherwood Park Green. Austin Watamaniuk struck out the side to end the game. Larose banged out three hits.
This weekend the Cardinals play Red Deer at noon Saturday at Sherwood Park and Fort McMurray at 10 a.m. Sunday at Spruce Grove.
