The following St. Albert Rugby Football Club (SARFC) teams are playing the Druids today at Ellerslie Rugby Park.
Third division men at 12:30 p.m.
Women (ERU spring league) at 2:15 p.m.
Premier men at 4 p.m.
Next weekend St. Albert has four matches scheduled against the Clansmen at Airways Park.
St. Albert’s home opener is May 19 when the women host the Lep/Tigers at 7 p.m. at the Leading Edge Physiotherapy Fields.
Second place is on the line today, when the St. Albert Storm huddle up against the Edmonton Chargers in midget spring league football. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. at Clarke Park.
The third-place Storm trail the Chargers by one point in the tier I/II division. The winner will play the undefeated Edmonton Mustangs, the defending tier I champion. The loser plays the Parkland Predators in the tier II final. The playoffs are tentatively slated for Thursday or Saturday.
In last year’s tier II final the Storm defeated the Chargers 29-22 in an overtime shootout.
Last Saturday the Storm dropped a 28-0 decision to the Mustangs.
The metro Edmonton high school rugby league gets under way next week for the Bellerose Bulldogs, Paul Kane Blues and St. Albert Skyhawks. Kickoff times are 4:45 p.m. for the following matches.
Monday (men)

Bellerose vs. O’Leary at Airways
Paul Kane vs. Sturgeon at Pirates
Tuesday (women)
O’Leary vs. Paul Kane at SARFC

O’Leary vs. Paul Kane at SARFC
Last year the Bellerose men and women were crowned city conference champions.
Paul Kane was the runner-up in the city men’s and premier women’s finals.
Sturgeon is the two-time defending premier women’s champion and bronze medallist the last two years at tier 1(4A schools) provincials.
Meanwhile, in the pre-season tournament last weekend in Sherwood Park, Sturgeon beat Bellerose in the men’s final.
