The Cardinals are off to a blazing 7-1 start in league play.

Tonight the St. Albert Tigers play the Confederation Park Cubs in the Sunburst Baseball League.

The first pitch is 6:45 p.m. at John Fry Park.

Friday the Tigers host the Fort Saskatchewan A’s at 7:30 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

The senior AAA Tigers are undefeated in league play after defeating the Parkland White Sox 6-2 in Spruce Grove and the A’s 14-9 in Fort Saskatchewan.

Last year the Tigers won only five games in the regular season.

Thursday the Bellerose Bulldogs host their second annual Dawg Bowl at 5 p.m. at Riel Recreation Park.

The White versus Cardinal intersquad game features players from the junior and senior Bellerose football teams.

The St. Albert second division men’s team visit the Strathcona Druids tonight in the Edmonton Rugby Union.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Lynn Davies Rugby Park.

It’s the first match of the season for the Druids and the seconds are coming off a 47-12 drubbing of the Lep/Tigers.

The St. Albert Soccer Association has arranged a pub night fundraiser and potluck social for Carleigh Miller to support her trip to Kazan, Russia to play with Team Canada at the 27th Summer Universiade in July.

Friday’s event at the SASA lounge runs from 7:30 to 11 p.m.

Miller is one of five Alberta Pandas on Canada’s roster. Pandas’ head coach Liz Jepsen of St. Albert is in charge of the team.

Miller, a graduated fifth-year Pandas’ midfielder, played for Canada at the 2011 Universiade in Shenzhen, China.

The St. Albert Catholic High School alumna was a Canada West second team all-star in 2012 and first-team selection in 2011 and 2010. She was named to the CIS second All-Canadian team in 2010.

The Royal Alexandra Hospital nurse also kicks the ball for Victoria in the Alberta Major Soccer League.
