Thursday the Bellerose Bulldogs and Austin O’Brien Crusaders play an exhibition game with no special teams at 5 p.m. at Riel Recreation Park.
It’s week two for the Bulldogs' football spring camp.
This fall, with the Edmonton Public Schools Athletic Association joining the Metro Edmonton High School Athletic Association for the 2013/14 athletic calendar, the metro Carr conference will include the Bulldogs, Crusaders (two-time defending Alberta Bowl Tier I champions), Bev Facey Falcons (two-time reigning Carr champions) and Salisbury Sabres. They will be joined by the Spruce Grove Panthers (Alberta Bowl Tier I finalists), Harry Ainlay Titans, Ross Sheppard Thunderbirds and Jasper Place Rebels from the public league.
Meanwhile, five Bulldogs will huddle up in the first annual All Canadian Gridiron ABC Border Bowl for Grade 10 and 11 players May 25 in Kelowna.
Defensive end Dean Ciampanelli, offensive lineman Jack Hanna, linebacker Cody Johnston, cornerback Tyler Moroz and wide receiver Seth Waselenchuk of the Bulldogs will play for the Alberta Rising Stars against the British Columbia Rising Stars.
Tryouts were held in late February in Alberta in three locations and in mid-March at two B.C. locations.
The annual St. Albert Minor Baseball Association’s Early Bird tournament starts Friday at 6:30 p.m. in all six divisions.
The 52–team, 100-game schedule will be staged at Legion Memorial Park, Meadowview Diamonds and Stony Plain.
The finals are 3 p.m. Sunday for midget AA, peewee AAA, peewee AA and mosquito AA and 3 p.m. Monday for bantam AAA and bantam AA.

The St. Albert Soccer Association’s Victoria Day Classic tournament kicks off Friday night.
Seventy-seven teams, including 11 St. Albert Impact teams, are entered in Tier I, II and III boys and girls in U10 to U18.
Field locations are Riel Recreation Park, Eldorado east and west, Salisbury one and two, Larose east and west and in U12 Erin Ridge and another pitch to be determined.

This is the second year for a joint boys’ and girls’ tournament after SASA hosted the girls during the May long weekend for 27 years and the boys during the Canada Day long weekend for 39 years.
The 2011 tournaments featured 30 girls’ teams and 22 boys’ teams.
