Four qualifiers in the 12-team double-knockout format advance to the April 16 semifinals at 7 p.m.
The mixed, men’s and women’s finals are April 17 at 7 p.m.
Two years ago King won the second championship in team history and the sixth men’s title by a St. Albert team at cities.
The 2009 finalists are competing in their ninth cities in 21 years.
In 2010, Piper skipped the lineup of Jackie Rae Greening, Nicole Bellamy and Schreiner to the second crown by a St. Albert rink since Cathy King won the inaugural women’s cities in 1993. McLennan also won the mixed event that year.
Last month’s President’s Cup championship was the seventh in eight years for King and his men, the sixth in seven years for McLennan’s rink, the seventh in a row for Piper and Schreiner, Monk’s sixth and Lauren Jenkyns’ third, in addition to her recent mixed club honours curling with McLennan.
