Today’s match between St. Albert and the Fort McMurray Knights in second division men’s rugby kicks off at 4 p.m. at the Leading Edge Fields instead of the field behind Wild Rose Elementary School.
The premier pitch at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club is still open despite reclamation work to the fields.
The few remaining home matches should go as scheduled at Wild Rose field.
In the Edmonton Rugby Union standings, the Knights (5-6-1) are ranked fifth and St. Albert (3-8) is stuck in last place.
Online registrations for the St. Albert Triathlon ended Tuesday, with 220 competitors confirmed for the oldest sprint race in Alberta.
Sunday’s start time is 7 a.m. at Fountain Park Recreation Centre.
The triathlon features a sprint distance (750-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike and five-km run), try-a-tri (250m swim, 10-km bike and 2.5-km run) and sprint relay race.
Last year there were 132 finishers in the sprint distance, 26 in the try-a-tri and seven teams in the sprint relay.
The awards ceremony is 11 a.m. at the finish line. Medals will be awarded to the top three men and top three women overall, plus the top three finishers in the six men’s and women’s age categories, try-a-tri male, try-a-tri female and sprint relay race.
The 2011 champion was Max King of Sherwood Park in one hour, one minute and 28 seconds.
The runner-up was Ryan Kohlenberg at 1:02:22 as the fastest St. Albert triathlete. He won the 2010 race at 59:29, finished second in 2009 at 59:35 and was the top finisher in 2008 at 1:01.56.
Wietske Eikelenboom of St. Albert was the fastest female last year at 1:10:29 for 12th place overall.
The triathlon, hosted by the St. Albert Roadrunners and Triathlon Club, is sanctioned by Triathlon Alberta.

The Rummies and Chester City highlight Sunday’s main event in the St. Albert Men’s Soccer League.

The Rummies (14-0-1) have clinched the division pennant for a berth at the Tier IV provincials after a two-year league absence. The winners of 13 playoff cups and 11 provincial medals lead the league in goals with 46 and have let in only nine.
Chester City (9-4) and GSE (8-1-3) are battling for the second St. Albert spot at provincials, Aug. 31 to Sept. 3 in Edmonton.
Chester City marksmen Todd Watson and Matt Starcheski are the division’s top scorers with 14 and 12 goals, respectively.
League play ends Aug. 21 and the playoffs start Aug. 26.
