The Morinville Jets are hosting the Capital Junior B Hockey League all-star game Saturday at the Ray MacDonald Sports Centre.
The rookie game starts at 1:30 p.m. and the all-star game is 4 p.m. Tickets are $5.
The post-game festivities at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre include a banquet, silent auction and a live band. Tickets are $40 for the dinner and dance and $20 for the dance only.
Representing the Jets in the rookie game is defenceman Tyler Kampjes and forwards Brady McCorriston and Troy Roberts.
The Jets’ all-stars are goalie Brad Miller, defenceman Nick McRae and forwards Dalen Paul and David Hauptman. Paul leads the league with 30 goals in 25 games.
The St. Albert Merchants are sending forwards Mitch Allen, A.J. Yariwon and Taylor Maat to the rookie game.
The Merchants’ all-stars are goalie Curtis Ronaldson, defencemen Bryce Schmode and Kurtis Watts and forward Jake Behiels.
Meanwhile, league play resumes Friday after the Christmas break. The Jets (17-8-2) visit the Leduc Riggers (6-18-5) at 7:45 p.m. and the Merchants (14-9-4) entertain the Strathcona Bruins (10-15-1) at 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
In the west division the third-place Merchants trail the first-place Jets by four points. They beat the Jets three times in four games this season.
Matteo Gennaro and Brendan Kallis will represent the St. Albert Sabres at the 22nd annual Alberta Major Bantam AAA Hockey League all-star game Saturday in Fort Saskatchewan.
Game time is 1 p.m. at the Jubilee Recreation Centre.
Gennaro is the Sabres’ top scorer with 20 goals and 34 points in 21 games. Kallis is a defenceman with 14 assists in 23 games.
Tonight in league play the Sabres (14-4-5) battle the Spruce Grove Saints (5-17-1) at 7:45 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The Sabres are ranked third in the nitro north standings and are seven points back of the first-place SSAC Southgate Lions (19-2-2).
Four players from the St. Albert Slash were named to the north line-up for Sunday’s all-star game in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.
Puck drop is 11 a.m. at the Terwillegar Rec Centre.
The Slash will be represented by Eliza Snider on defence and forwards Jessica Kampjes and Deanna and Ashley Morin.
Ashley Morin leads the north division with 20 goals and 32 points 18 games.
