The double-knockout format started Tuesday at the Glen Allen Curling Club for Lauren Jenkyns, the defending women's champion, against the Saville Centre. Dale Briske played the Thistle in the men's draw. Scores were unavailable at press time.
Doug McLennan, last year's mixed finalist, curls against the Shamrock or the Crestwood tonight at 6 p.m.
The semifinals are 6 p.m. Sunday and the finals are 11 a.m. Sunday

The St. Albert Crude visit the Fort Saskatchewan Rebels in pre-season lacrosse action Friday at the Sportsplex.
Faceoff is 8 p.m. between the Crude, a junior B Tier I north division team, and the Rebels, a junior B Tier II northeast division team.
Last month, the Crude lost 6-5 to the Rebels in Edmonton.
The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League lid-lifter for the Crude is April 25 against the host Calgary Mountaineers.
The home opener for last year's 15-4-1 pennant winners and 2013 provincial finalists is May 9 against the Edmonton Warriors at 8 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
The pre-game opening ceremonies at 7 p.m. will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Crude program. The 2006 Crude team will be introduced and a special tribute will honour the memory of Gord Brittain, the team's inaugural manager and a devoted member of the Crude family.
The St. Albert Heavenly Rollers host the East Side Wheelers in Saturday's home opener at Servus Credit Union Place.
The Wheelers are based in Indus, a hamlet in southern Alberta in Rocky View County.
The Heavenly Rollers hit the track with a mixture of skaters from their Beelzebubs and Arch Angels teams.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first jam whistle is 7 p.m.

In December, the Heavenly Rollers achieved full membership status in the Women's Flat Track Derby Association after graduating from the apprentice program.
St. Albert's only roller derby league can now compete internationally in games and tournaments with teams across the globe.
The governing body for women's flat-track roller derby is a membership organization for more than 300 leagues in the world to collaborate and network. It created and maintained the first standardized rule set for the flat-track game.
