At 4:45 p.m. the lady Skyhawks play the Archbishop Jordan Scots and at 6:15 p.m. the varsity men battle the Bellerose Bulldogs at the SkyDome.

The lady Skyhawks are 2-0 in premier and 9-0 overall after beating the Bev Facey Falcons 68-29 Monday in St. Albert. Grade 10 forwards Brielle Wise and Marinya Marcichiw led the team in scoring with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Last weekend in Camrose the Skyhawks won their second tournament in a row, 57-25 over the Edmonton Christian Lions in the final. Amber Easthope tossed in 22 points and Paige Knull added 13 for the defending premier champions.

The three-time reigning 3A provincial gold medallists also crushed the Leduc Tigers 107-34 and the Holy Trinity Trojans by 60, with six players in double figures, and defeated the Camrose Trojans 61-48 in the semifinals.

The men’s team is 0-2 in premier after losing to Bev Facey 82-81 at the buzzer Monday in St. Albert.

Bellerose is also 0-2 in premier and in exhibition action lost 87-39 to the Skyhawks.

Last weekend the Skyhawks were victorious at the Strathcona Christian Academy tournament. They beat Heritage Christian 66-46, West Island College 76-28 and Strathcona Christian 89-80 in the final.

Grade 12 forward Roberto Sanchez-Enkerlin was named to the all-star team and Grade 12 guard Cam Vilcsak was the tournament MVP.

The Paul Kane Blues captured the Rise Up tournament title in Saturday’s final at Sturgeon Composite High School.

Co-captain Josee Larson, the tournament MVP, scored a team-high 15 points in the 49-35 victory over Edmonton Scona. Julie Fagan chipped in with eight points in the last quarter. After three quarters the Blues led 29-23.

The Blues also won 74-31 over Memorial of Stony Plain and 66-30 over the Sturgeon Spirits. Kiara Bain led the charge against Memorial and Tiana Woyewitka sank 20 points against Sturgeon.

Today at 4:45 p.m. the Blues play the Bev Facey Falcons in the metro Edmonton premier conference.

The Blues are 1-1 in premier and 7-2 overall after rattling the winless Salisbury Sabres 74-26 Monday at Paul Kane.

The St. Albert Merchants skate at home this weekend in the Capital Junior B Hockey League.

At 8 p.m. the Merchants (13-7-3) host the North Edmonton Red Wings (11-9-1) Friday and the Edmonton Mustangs (11-11-1) Sunday at Akinsdale Arena.

Last weekend the Merchants lost 4-3 in a shootout to the first-place Spruce Grove Regals (19-2-3) at Grant Fuhr Arena and 6-4 to the Wetaskiwin Icemen (15-9) in St. Albert.
