The winner hosts the St. Paul Lions or the 2011 provincial champion Stettler Wildcats next Saturday in the north final.

The Alberta Bowl final is Nov. 24 at Foote Field.

In the Football Alberta rankings the Skyhawks (7-3) are sixth and the Pioneers (6-4) are seventh.

The Skyhawks made their Tier III provincial debut last year and beat the Pioneers 35-14 in Peace River and lost 21-14 to the Wildcats in Stettler.

Last weekend the Skyhawks, the lone Tier III (school population 450 to 749) team in the Carr conference, fell 51-14 to the undefeated Bev Facey Falcons in the metro Edmonton final.

The St. Albert 49ers are in Bonnyville today to play the hometown Bandits in the Tier 3 provincial bantam north final. Kickoff is 1 p.m.

The winner will challenge the Olds Bulldogs or Calgary Wildcats next Saturday on the road for the provincial title.

The 49ers (7-1) are coming off a 21-14 win over the Fort Saskatchewan Lightning in the Tier 3 final in the Capital District Minor Football Association.

The top two teams in metro Edmonton high school junior football clash Tuesday, when the Bellerose Bulldogs and St. Joseph Saints battle for the premier conference championship.

Kickoff is 5 p.m. at Clarke Park. Admission is $5.

The Bulldogs are gunning for their first junior football championship in school history. Their last trip to the junior final was 2005, a 29-9 loss to the St. Albert Hawks for the premier title.

In league play the Bulldogs (8-0) posted a 39-13 win over the Saints (7-1) last month. It was 30-0 at halftime.

The St. Albert Slash have back-to-back games scheduled against north division opponents in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.

Sunday the Slash (7-4-2) visit the Spruce Grove Saints (5-7-1) at 11:30 a.m. at Grant Fuhr Arena.

Last month the Saints edged the Slash 3-2 in Spruce Grove.

Monday the Slash host the Edmonton Thunder (10-1-1) at 8:30 p.m. at Northstar Hyundai Arena.

In late September the Slash tied the Thunder 2-2 in Lethbridge.

The Thunder, the reigning league champions, are the 2012 Esso Cup national bronze medallists after settling for silver in 2011.

Last weekend the Slash lost 4-2 to the Highwood Raiders in St. Albert and posted a 3-1 road win against the Sherwood Park Fury (1-9-3).
