The midget AAA Cardinals will take on the seldom-seen Spruce Grove White Sox tonight at Legion Memorial Park. First pitch goes at 7 p.m.
On the season to date the two teams have only met once, with the White Sox drubbing the Cardinals 12-4 on June 5. Tonight’s game also marks the last time the two teams will play each other during the regular season.
In the standings, the White Sox sit in third place at 16-7, five games back of the first place Okotoks Black. St. Albert occupies fifth place at 11-12 and are 10 games back of first.
The St. Albert men’s and women’s soccer leagues will be putting their best players on the field for the league’s respective all-star games Friday night in St. Albert.
For the men, the best of the St. Albert Men’s Soccer League (SAMSL) will be divided into Team White and Team Blue. Both teams will take the soccer pitch at Riel field #2. Game time is 7 p.m.
In the St. Albert Women’s Soccer League (SAWSL), the best of the league will also meet up in Riel for their all-star game. That game also goes at 7 p.m.
After Thursday’s fight-filled, heart-breaking loss to the Clan, St. Albert’s first 15 will be looking for a better result at Leading Edge Physiotherapy Field at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club (SARFC) on Saturday when they take on the Druids. Game time is 4 p.m.
The two teams have met only once so far this season in which the Druids squeaked out a 9-6 win over St. Albert on May 12.
The second division squad, coming off a 37-31 win over the Clan Saturday, will also be in action Saturday afternoon against the NorWesters. The two teams have already met once, in which the NorWesters thumped St. Albert 29-12.
The second division game goes at 2:15 p.m. also at Leading Edge fields.
There are only two games left before the playoffs for the senior B Miners, one of which goes tonight against the Spruce Grove Slash at 7:30 p.m. at Grant Fuhr Arena in Spruce Grove.
The Miners hold third place in the league, six points back of the first place Knights and two points behind the Slash.
