The peewee AAA Cardinals are hoping for clear skies and booming bats tonight as they take the mound at Legion Memorial Park.
The Red Birds take on SEEBA at 7 p.m.
The bantam AAA Cardinals will take the field Thursday night, also at 7 p.m. at Legion, to battle their SEEBA counterparts.
In four games against one another this season, the St. Albert Cardinals hold the advantage with three wins and only one loss.
The bantam AAA Cardinals have 10 games remaining in the regular season. They are coming off an impressive showing at a tournament in Cloverdale, B.C. over the long weekend.
The senior B Miners could make up the two points between them and a tie for first place this week if they can turn in two wins in both upcoming games.
Their first attempt will be tonight at 8 p.m. in front of the home crowd at Northstar Hyundai Arena at Servus Credit Union Place when they take on the Spruce Grove Slash.
And on Friday the Miners descend on the Outlaws at Bill Hunter Arena for an 8 p.m. start.
As of Monday, the Miners were in third place in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League with 14 points, trailing both the Slash and the Knights, both of which have 16 points. The Miners are 7-3 in 10 games played already this year and have an eight-point jump on the fourth place Raiders.
The top of the heap descend on the Leading Edge Fields at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club as the St. Albert firsts battle the Clansmen Thursday night at 7 p.m.
Following a woeful 0-2 start to the Alberta Cup season, St. Albert has since picked up its game. They stopped the bleeding against the Calgary Irish with a 24-20 win on June 2 then enjoyed the sweet taste or revenge against the Clansmen, who had pummelled them 53-12 in May, with a 40-20 trouncing early last month.
With the European championships concluded, St. Albert’s focus returns to the Riel Park pitches as the Impact Rangers play host to Victoria Thursday night at 7 p.m.
The Impact 1, who also compete in the premier division with the Impact Rangers, are also in play, but in Sherwood Park as they take on Karpaty, also at 7 p.m.
The Impact 1 hold down fourth place in the premier division while the Impact Rangers are in danger of relegation, having not yet won a game on the season.
