Today at 4 p.m. St. Albert hosts the Calgary Saints at the Leading Edge Fields in premier men’s rugby.
St. Albert, the 2011 provincial finalist, has won its last two matches after kicking off the Alberta Cup fixtures with two losses. The Saints are 2-1.
St. Albert also scrums down today at Ellerslie Rugby Park at 12:30 p.m. against the Lep/Tigers Black (5-2) in the women’s division and 2:15 p.m. against the Pirates (2-4) in the men’s second division.
The St. Albert women are winless in three matches and 1-6 overall in the Edmonton Rugby Union spring league to determine the teams in the Alberta premier division and ERU second division.
Last weekend in Fort McMurray, the seconds improved to 2-3 as Antony Fitch converted a try on the last play of the game and Adam Higgins shredded the Knights (2-4) for multiple tries in the 29-27 victory.
Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Leading Edge Fields the third division men (3-1) tackle the Leduc Crude (2-3) and the women’s team battle the Pirates (3-4).
The St. Albert Miners have home floor advantage tonight against the winless Calgary Mountaineers in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.
Game time is 8:30 p.m. at Northstar Hyundai Arena.
The Miners (6-3) are 4-1 at home.
The two-time defending senior B provincial champions are undefeated in three games after their fifth win in six games, 8-4 over the Okotoks Raiders (3-5) last weekend in St. Albert.
Today they play at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m.
The Cardinals (10-3) are coming off an 11-7 loss to SEEBA on Wednesday in St. Albert.
Next weekend the Cardinals travel to Cloverdale, B.C. for a tournament.
The annual Fastball St. Albert city league tournament is up to bat this weekend at Meadowview Diamonds.
Fourteen teams are competing for medals in the coach/pitch, mites, squirts and peewee divisions.

The St. Albert Soccer Association’s annual Tier IV house league finals are under way at Riel Park.
The tournament draw features 11 U12 (eight versus eight) and seven U14 teams from St. Albert.
The U14 girls and boys competed in an exhibition league with teams from west Edmonton and Spruce Grove and the top-ranked teams advance to the Tier IV rural provincials in July.
The U12 teams participated in an in-house program.
The medal presentations are Sunday afternoon.
