Last weekend’s festival in St. Albert featured the U7 and U9 flag, U11 contact (seven-a-side), U13 boys (seven-a-side) and U15 boys (league) divisions.

All but two of this year’s 11 festivals are scheduled for Ellerslie Rugby Park. The last festival is July 28.

Today at 2 p.m. the St. Albert third division men and Cold Lake Penguins scrum down at the Leading Edge Fields in the Edmonton Rugby Union.

The thirds (2-1) are tied for fifth place and the Penguins (1-2) are 10th in the 12-team standings.

Last month the thirds lost 30-0 to the first-place Clansmen (4-1).

Also on tap today is the women’s match between St. Albert (1-5) and Strathcona Druids Green (0-6) at 12:30 p.m. at Lynn Davies Rugby Park and the second division men (1-3) tackle the Knights (2-3) in Fort McMurray.

The midget AAA St. Albert Cardinals play East Park of Edmonton in an exhibition game today at 10 a.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

Tuesday in the Norwest league the St. Albert Cardinals (8-11) host SEEBA 2 (1-12) at 7 p.m. at Legion park.

The Cardinals are winless in four games after Wednesday’s 9-2 loss to SEEBA 1 (5-6) in St. Albert.

SEEBA outhit the home team 13-2. Shortstop Tanner Karpinski drove in two runs in the third inning to open the scoring. SEEBA replied with five runs in the top of the fourth.

Last weekend at the Medicine Hat AA American Legion Tournament the Cardinals lost 13-1 to the host Moose Monarchs, edged the Calgary Blues 9-8 and lost 5-3 to the Saskatoon Giants.

The bantam AAA St. Albert Cardinals are in Saskatoon this weekend for their second tournament of the season.

The St. Albert Early Bird winners play the Saskatoon Blue Jays and Regina Pacers.

The Cardinals raised their league record to 10-2 in Wednesday’s 9-6 road win against Sherwood Park Gold.

The next home game is this Wednesday against SEEBA at 7 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

Monday the St. Albert Senior Cardinals host the Spruce Grove Eagles in the Alberta West Central Baseball Association.

Game time is 6:45 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.

The Cardinals won three in a row after losing their season opener 5-4 to undefeated Westlock Red Lions at Legion park. The teams meet again Thursday in Westlock at 6:45 p.m.
