The men’s, mixed and women’s playoffs to determine the President’s Cup and Manager’s Cup champions are underway at the St. Albert Curling Club.
The finals are March 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the women’s Manager’s Cup, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. for the mixed President’s Cup and April 1 at 7:30 p.m. for the men’s and women’s President’s Cup and the men’s and mixed Manager’s Cup.
The tiebreaker playoff in the double knockout format is April 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the mixed President’s and Manager’s Cups and 8:45 p.m. for the women’s President’s Cup and the men’s President’s and Manager’s Cups.
The President’s Cup winners advance to the 52nd annual Edmonton and area Tournament of Champions, April 7 to 12 at the Glen Allen Curling Club in Sherwood Park.
The defending President’s Cup champions are rinks skipped by Craig King (men), Doug McLennan (mixed) and Lauren Jenkyns (women).
Last year at the Tournament of Champions, Jenkyns was crowned the city champion and McLennan was the runner-up.
The women’s banner was third for St. Albert since 1993, when the women’s draw was added to the Tournament of Champions format.
Doug McLennan of St. Albert is competing at his second Canadian Seniors (50-plus) Curling Championship in three years, starting Saturday at the Thistle Curling Club.
McLennan is the third for the Team Alberta rink skipped by Glen Hansen with George Parsons and Don Bartlett as the front-end.
Alberta’s first game is 4:30 p.m. against Nova Scotia (Truro Curling Club).
The championship and seeding games start Wednesday and the gold and bronze finals are March 28 at 2:30 p.m.

At the 2013 nationals in Summerside, P.E.I., McLennan was the third for the Alberta rink with skip Wade White and the front-end of Dan Holowaychuk of St. Albert and Parsons that finished 9-3 overall as bronze medallists.
Registrations are being accepted for the St. Albert Road Race, formerly the St. Albert 10-Mile Road Race, on April 19.
A 10-kilometre race joins the 10-miler, a St. Albert fixture since 1986, and the five-km run, which replaces the six-km event introduced two years ago.
The St. Albert 10-miler was voted one of the best road races in Alberta in 2014.
The road race is hosted by the St. Albert Road Runners and Triathlon Club.
