The peewee AAA St. Albert Cardinals make their season debut today against the Sherwood Park A’s at Legion Memorial Park.

Game times are 1 and 4 p.m.

Metro Edmonton high school soccer kicks off next week for St. Albert teams in the city conference.

Tuesday in the men’s pool B the St. Albert Skyhawks visit the Sturgeon Spirits.

Wednesday at Riel Park the Skyhawks play the Paul Kane Blues and the Bellerose Bulldogs tackle the J.H. Picard Pumas.

Kickoff times are 4:15 p.m.

In pool B women’s exhibition action Tuesday, the Bulldogs tangle with the St. Francis Xavier Rams and the Skyhawks line up against the Archbishop MacDonald Marauders at 4:15 p.m. at Riel Park.

Tuesday’s lid-lifter in the St. Albert Men’s Soccer League starts at 6:30 p.m. between St. Albert United and GSE at the Riel Park turf field.

At 8:15 p.m. the defending champion CSKA Blues FC play Crossfire.

Thursday at the turf field Chester City battles the Rummies at 6:30 p.m., followed by SA City against Arsenal at 8:15 p.m.

The Impact, the league’s newest team, has the bye.

The Paul Kane Blues and the Sturgeon Spirits square-off Tuesday in metro Edmonton premier women’s rugby.

Kickoff is 4:45 p.m. at the Pirates Rugby Club.

In the league opener this week the Bev Facey Falcons throttled the Blues 61-0 in Sherwood Park and the Spirits crushed the O’Leary Spartans 55-5 at the Clansmen field.

The Spirits are the three-time defending premier champions and 2011 Tier I (4A schools) provincial silver medallists.

At 4 p.m. the women’s team scrums down against the Rockers and at 5:45 p.m. the second division men clash with the Nor’Westers, last year’s provincial finalists.

Last year the women finished 2-10 and the seconds were 8-5.

Meanwhile, the third division men grace the pitch May 11 at the Pirates Rugby Club.

The premier men play their first match May 12 against the Strathcona Druids at 4 p.m. at Lynn Davies Rugby Park.

The home opener at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club is May 17 between the women and Leduc Crude/West at 7 p.m.
