The North Central Alberta Baseball League will continue celebrations for its 50th anniversary with a family tailgate party and all-star game on Sunday.
Starting Sunday morning, the NCABL Senior AA league will host a barbecue, concert and all-star game.
The action will start at 11 a.m. where families can bring a picnic lunch, have a barbecue or buy snacks from the concession stand. Families who bring a barbecue with them will be given a free family pack of hamburgers and a picnic table reserved for the family. The first 25 trucks that arrive will receive priority parking.
A kiosk will be selling special souvenir items commemorating the 50th anniversary
The band Mourning Wood will be performing a concert on the grounds and there will be beer gardens on the grounds throughout the day. Between sets the City of St. Albert 150th singer-songwriter contest finalists will be performing.
Elementary school kids will be entertained throughout the day by Canada 150 personnel and NCABL volunteers who will be hosting summer picnic activities in an enclosed area near the concert site. Kids will be given free ice cream and some kids will receive complementary collector baseball cards.
Lia Cole will headline a pre-game show at 3 p.m. performing her award-winning rendition of Home to Me.
The game will get started with Mayor Nolan Crouse throwing out the first pitch at 3:30 p.m.
Gates open at 11 a.m. for the barbecue, Mourning Wood will go on at 12:30 p.m. and Lia Cole will perform at 3 p.m.
Admission for adults is five dollars and children under the age of 12 get in for free. Prizes will be drawn for throughout the game.
All of the events are at Legion Memorial Baseball Park.
