The Morinville Jets are playing the waiting game to see who they play in the best-of-three qualifying round in the west division of the Capital Junior B Hockey League.
The St. Albert Merchants (14-18-4) and Stony Plain Flyers (15-20-2) are potential playoff foes for the third-place Jets (19-15-2).
Tuesday the Jets hosted the Strathcona Bruins (1-33-2) but the score was unavailable at press time and the last game before the playoffs is Sunday versus the fourth-place Edmonton Mustangs (17-18-2) at 7:30 p.m. at Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
The Jets are 5-5-1 in 2019 after Sunday’s 6-5 overtime loss to the first-place Beverly Warriors (27-9) in Morinville.
The Jets capitalized four times on the power play and the last three with the man advantage by Dillon Watt, Tyler Sonnichsen and Zach Mcrae capped off a four-goal rally in the second period to jump past Beverly 5-4.
Lee Gadoury (power play) in the first and Brett Dubuc’s league-high 40th goal in the second also rallied the Jets from deficits of 2-0 and 4-1.
Dubuc added two assists to his league-best 80 points.
Shots were 5-2 in the five-minute OT period and 46-36 overall for Beverly against netminder Colton Kucher (11-13,3.56 GAA) of the Jets.
