The St. Albert Mission U19AA belles skate into the Canadian Ringette Championships as the No. 2 Alberta seed as provincial finalists.
The only loss for the Mission at provincials was 5-1 to Calgary in Sunday's final.
"We had a fantastic weekend overall," said coach Heather Konklin.
All five belle teams at the AA provincials in Calgary qualified for nationals so the tournament declared who would wear the Alberta colours and the rest of the teams would be seeded according to their finish.
Nationals are March 26 to April 1 in Leduc.
The Mission belles rattled off wins of 5-3 against Zone 5 Grit, 4-2 against Edmonton Elite, 3-2 in overtime against Central Alberta Sting and 4-3 against Calgary in the round robin.
Anatonia Hood was the tournament's top point producer in the round robin with seven in four games.
Hood also tied for the lead in goals with four, and one of the markers was the OT winner against the Sting after Brooklyn Foote tied it two in the last period.
Last year at nationals Hood was a second-team all-star selection for the St. Albert Mission U16AA juniors.
Madison Darda scored the lone Mission goal in the final and Hood assisted on the play.
It was 2-1 Calgary with one period to go.
The Sting edged the Elite 5-4 in the third-place playoff.
The Mission's overall record is 16-18-3 after provincials.
Last year the Mission were seeded sixth out of six Alberta teams at nationals in London, Ont., and the belles placed 18th out of the 20 teams.
The Mission were bronze medallists at the 2015 nationals.
U16AA juniors
The Mission U16AA juniors are the No. 4 Alberta seeds at nationals after Sunday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Calgary Impact in the third-place playoff at provincials.
All eight AA teams automatically qualified for nationals in Leduc.
In pool A the Mission posted wins of 5-2 against the Impact, 4-1 against Zone 2 and 8-1 against Sherwood Park Power.
The 6-0 semifinal loss to the Central Alberta Sting dropped the Mission into the third-place game and Genevieve Pallot scored against the Impact.
Calgary Pace downed the Sting 6-4 in the final.
Vail Ketsa led all juniors in goals in the round robin with eight and tied for second in points with nine in three games.
The Mission are 29-20-3 after provincials.
Last year the Mission also finished fourth at provincials and at nationals placed 11th out of 20 teams for third among the six Alberta teams.
The Mission were seventh overall at the 2015 nationals.
U14AA tweens
The Mission U14AA tweens qualified for westerns as the third-place team at provincials.
The Calgary tournament consisted of eight teams and the top four advance to westerns, March 23 to 25 in Winnipeg.
In pool A the Mission knocked off Calgary White 2-1 on Samantha Mudryk's goal, lost 6-4 to the Central Alberta Sting and beat Calgary Blue 5-3.
Charlotte Campbell led the Mission in scoring in the round robin with four assists and five points in three games.
The Mission's 6-4 quarter-win over the Zone 2 Blaze secured a spot at westerns as Mudryk potted a pair on the power play and Jamie Stolk, Sydney Fevin, Morgan Laporte and Reeve Spanakis notched singles.
The 4-3 semifinal loss to Calgary White was decided in the last period as the Mission were out-scored 3-1 and two of the Calgary goals were power-play tallies.
The Mission capitalized three times on the power play as Spanakis struck twice and Kenzie McEachern also connected.
Fevin's goal in the extra period propelled the Mission past the Spruce Grove Storm 4-3 in the third-place playoff.
Spanakis collected two goals and Stolk also scored.
Marley Belyea picked up three assists and Campbell and McEachern had two helpers each.
"Very close, hard-fought games all weekend," said coach Tricia Smith.
Calgary White defeated the Sting 6-1 in the final.
The Mission are 30-8-6 going into westerns.
Last year the Mission ended up fifth at provincials while finishing 16-17-5 overall on the season.
