Silver provincial finish for Rams

The St. Albert Midget A Rams lacrosse team earned a silver medal at the provincials over the weekend, falling to their regular-season rivals, the Parkland Posse.

The Rams were one of six teams participating in the tournament and only one of two teams from the northern region.

Both teams went undefeated during the round robin and won their semifinal games easily.

During their final meeting of the year the Rams and Posse were tied 4-4 going late into the third period. With less than one minute to play the Posse broke through and scored the game-winning goal.

The two teams battled hard all season long fighting for top spot.

The St. Albert squad finished first in the league during the regular season with 15 wins, six losses and one tie, earning them 31 points in the standings. The Posse finished behind the Rams with 27 points from 13 wins, seven losses and one tie.

The Rams also managed to rack up 185 goals over the entire season, which is almost 20 more than the second-place Posse.

The Posse and Rams took their battle into the playoffs, with the home team falling to the Posse in the last game of a seven-game series.

The provincial match-up was the final game for the teams this year.
