Midget AAA ball
The St. Albert Blue Cardinals play ball tonight against the South Jasper Place Jays.Game time is 7 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.
The Blue Cardinals are 3-10 in the Norwest midget AAA league and 6-13 overall while the Jays are 5-9.
This weekend the Blue Cardinals are in Calgary for three games against the Cubs (1-13).
The Red Cardinals also fly into action this weekend at Legion park with games Saturday against the Fort McMurray Oil Giants (9-5) at 12 p.m. and the Northern Lights (10-1) at 6 p.m. and Sunday against Calgary Dino’s Black (10-2) at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The Red Cardinals were 9-1 in the Norwest circuit and 12-4 overall before Tuesday’s home game against SEEBA. The score was unavailable at press time.
Danny Tkachyk and Ryan Marples of the Red Cardinals ranked among the Norwest leaders in RBIs with 15 and 13, respectively, while Mike Brisson was near the top in doubles with six and stolen bases with 10.
Bantam AAA ball
Tonight’s bantam AAA game between the St. Albert Cardinals and Camrose Cougars starts at 6:30 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.The latest Baseball Alberta standings list the Cardinals at 12-7 and Camrose is 7-2.
Last weekend the Cardinals fell 7-2 and 8-6 to Calgary Cubs Blue (9-0) in St. Albert.
The first game was 3-2 entering the sixth when a couple of hits put it away and the rematch was 6-4 after six innings when the Cubs pushed four runs across.
The Cardinals also have doubleheaders scheduled Saturday at 12 p.m. against Calgary Cubs White (3-7) and 6 p.m. against the Fort McMurray Oil Giants (2-10) and Sunday at 10 against Fort McMurray and 4 p.m. against Cubs White.
SARFC matches
The St. Albert Rugby Football Club hosts the Bow Valley Grizzlies in Saturday’s doubleheader.Kickoff times are 1 p.m. for the division two men and 2:30 p.m. for the Alberta Cup premier men.
Bow Valley is 2-0 (117 PF/40 PA) in premier and 2-1 (99 PF/84 PA) in the interlock Calgary/Edmonton league as the defending Lor-Ann Cup division two provincial champion.
SARFC is 1-1 (55 PF/62 PA) in premier and 0-3 (64 PF/135 PA) in division two.
Last weekend in Calgary, SARFC lost 43-24 in premier and 43-33 in division two against the Rams, 3-0 (126 PF/84 PA) in premier and 2-1-1 (142 PF/140 PA) in division two.
