St. Albert product Marc Kennedy has racked up another win this past weekend with his new Calgary-based crew.

Kennedy, a repeat Olympic curler, is the third on skip  Brendan Bottcher’s team, and the group came together to win the Co-op Canadian Open men’s title in Camrose over the weekend.

Team Bottcher defeated Sweden’s Niklas Edin’s team with a final score of 5-3 to capture the championship on Sunday at the Encana Arena.

Kennedy is one of St. Albert’s most decorated athletes, winning gold at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics as well as a bronze at the 2022 Olympic games in Beijing.

Previously Kennedy has played on teams with skips Kevin Martin, Kevin Koe and Brad Jacobs, but most recently he joined forces with Brad Gushue at an attempt for Olympic gold in 2022.

But after the 2022 Olympics wrapped, Kennedy linked up with skip Brendan Bottcher along with Brett Gallant and Ben Herbert. Kennedy previously played with Herbert for both Martin and Koe.

The new crew’s next showdown is in Edmonton at the Alberta Provincials from Feb. 7 to 12.
