Lorne Akins School hosts the third-place games at 1 p.m. for division B girls, 2:15 p.m. for division B boys, 3:30 p.m. for division A girls and 4:45 p.m. for division A boys.
The winners of Thursday’s opening round of 16 for the boys and girls determined the division A and B brackets.
Games are also scheduled today at Richard S. Fowler and École Secondaire Saint Marguerite d’Youville.
The results of last year’s division A finals were 57-41 for the Fowler Falcons against the VJM Marauders for the girls and the St. Peter the Apostle Spartans of Spruce Grove repeated by defeating the Fowler boys 58-55 in overtime.
Meanwhile, week three in the SAPEC regular season includes doubleheaders on Tuesday with the Lorne Akins Gators at VJM (boys 4 p.m. and girls 5:30 p.m.) and Wednesday with the Sir George Simpson Voyageurs at Fowler (girls 4 p.m. and boys 5:30 p.m.).
Fowler is the defending SAPEC Tier I city champion after sweeping last year’s finals: 60-43 over VJM as the undefeated lady Falcons repeated and 67-58 for the boys against VJM.
Golden Ring
The 33rd annual Esso Golden Ring is underway in Calgary for six St. Albert Ringette Association teams.The U19A Selects, U16AA Mission, U14B Shock, U14AA Mission, U12A Flash and U10 Step 2 Devils are among 169 teams competing in 18 divisions.
The U14AA Mission, last year’s finalists, were 16-7-3 entering Friday’s tournament opener and the U16AA Mission’s record was 16-7-2.

Brezovski golfers
The snow and cold haven’t stopped the Brezovski sisters from teeing it up.In addition to indoor sessions with swing coach Blair Butter at GOLFTEC and fitness trainer Brad McNamara at Athletes Nation, Brooke and Belle Brezovski competed in two tournaments at Phoenix and Brooke was one of three Canadian females to participate in the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championship in early December at California.
Brooke, 15, qualified for the four-day tournament by posting a third-place score of 158 (76-82) in the U19 female division at the Canadian Junior Golf Association Alberta Fall Series event in September at Sturgeon Valley, her home course as the two-time defending ladies’ club champion.
The Aaron Baddeley tournament was held at La Costa Golf Club, which is located just north of San Diego in Carlsbad, and has played host to PGA, LPGA and World Golf Championship events.
The Canadian female and male teams played against representation from Australia, Japan, Mexico and the United States.
The Canadian females finished sixth out of eight teams and the six-player male delegation placed fifth out of five teams.
Brooke’s scores were 90-92-84-87.
During the Christmas break, Brooke and Belle attended the Rocky Mountain Junior Golf Tour 2018 Tournament of Champions at Stonecreek Golf Club in Phoenix. The cutline for the three-day was 50 per cent of the field after day two and both golfers fell short of advancing. Belle’s two-day total of 167 (88-79) was one stroke short of the cutline in the 11 to 14 female division despite a personal-best 79 on day two. Brooke was six strokes short of advancing at 171 (88-83) in the 15 to 19 female division.
The first winter tournament was the Future Collegians World Tour Junior Golf Phoenix Papago Open in November at the new home of the Arizona State University men’s and women’s golf teams.
Belle was the top female in the nine to 14 division at 176 (85-91) and Brooke finished eighth out of 13 females in the 13 to 19 division at 163 (79-84).
Both girls have two events scheduled for mid-March in Vancouver.
