Impact premier

The St. Albert Impact 1 (Spaidal) team ranks second in the premier women’s division after blanking third-place Victoria in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Jess Seutter, Taylor Payne and Casey Paplawski scored and Jamie Misiazek was in net for the 3-0 clean sheet Tuesday at Riel Park.

Impact 1 (9-2) and Victoria (7-1-1) are challenging Northwest United (10-0-1) for top spot in the premier table.

The next Impact 1 match is Tuesday versus Rionero FC (1-9-1) at 8:15 p.m. at Riel Park.

Sunday the Impact 2 (Bourbonnais/Brown) team has a rescheduled match against Sherwood Park Phoenix (4-5-1) at 6:30 p.m. at Millennium Place.

Impact 2 (4-3-2) is coming off Tuesday’s 1-0 decision against Hearts United (3-6-1) at Riel Park. Shawna Sayaphet tallied and Tianna Groenveld posted the shutout.

Tuesday’s contest between Impact 2 and Angels Scottish SC (4-5-1) kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at Riel Park.

The Impact 3 (Murphy) team also plays Tuesday at Riel Park against Hearts United at 6:30 p.m.

The last match for Impact 3 (3-7-1) was Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to Phoenix in Sherwood Park as Brook-Lyn Ashworth potted the lone marker.

Division 1A Impact

The St. Albert Impact 4 (Murphy) division 1A women’s team has first place in its sights in Monday’s match against FC Excelsior.

Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. at Riel Park.

Two points separate Impact 4 (5-1-2) and the division-leading Excelsior (6-1-1) in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Brittany Kindzierski is the division’s top scorer with 10 goals and Kaitlyn Diduck is tied for third with seven. Maria Czyz also has five goals.

Rams tied up

The St. Albert Rams settled for a tie Thursday after letting a three-goal lead slip away in the third period of the midget A lacrosse match in Stony Plain.

The Parkland Posse pulled even at seven apiece after the Rams scored three unanswered goals in the middle frame to go ahead 7-4.

Ronin Pusch and Mathieu Gautier, a pair of Team Alberta players for the Canadian Lacrosse Association midget A nationals, Aug. 12 to 18 in Calgary, tallied twice for the first-place Rams (11-4-1) against the second-place Posse (10-6-1) in the Greater Edmonton Lacrosse Council.

Kieran Harris, Blake Petrushko and Briley Maxwell added singles and Luigi Benincasa picked up three assists.

The Rams closed out the regular season Friday against the Saskatchewan SWAT (1-4-1) at Bill Hunter Arena. The score was unavailable at press time.

The playoffs start Wednesday at Bill Hunter Arena and last year, the Rams finished 0-2 in the four-team double-knockout format after placing fourth out of five teams in league play at 5-5-3.
