Raiders win

Eddie Gallagher’s third goal of the season was the winner Sunday to snap a five-game losing streak for the St. Albert Tire Warehouse Raiders. Kyle Fulton and Ryan Harker assisted on the power-play marker with 9:44 to play in the 2-1 decision against the Canadian Athletic Club (2-5-1) at Akinsdale Arena. Both teams scored in the first period and Jacob Charko’s goal was sniped with the man advantage. Shots were 25-11 in the third and 67-30 for the Raiders. Mitch Reidy (3-2, 2.82 GAA) was in net. The day before in Leduc, the Raiders dropped a 6-3 decision to the Oil Kings (3-4-1) as the defending Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League champions pumped in three unanswered goals in the third and the last tally was an empty-netter. Zach Carlson, Blake Sydlowski and Charko (power play) struck in the middle frame. The shot count was 49-31 for the Raiders as Evan Fradette (0-3, 3.38 GAA) and Reidy split time in net. The Raiders (3-5) have games on tap this weekend at the Akinsdale rink against the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers (3-6) at 1:45 p.m. Saturday and Airdrie Bisons (3-5) at 1:15 p.m. Sunday.
