The Morinville Jets chase after their fourth win in a row in the Capital Junior B Hockey League tonight when they play the Edmonton Royals.

Puck drop is 8 p.m. at Confederation Arena.

The Jets (18-8-1) are third in the west division and the Royals (17-9-2) are second in the east division.

Sunday in Wetaskiwin, the Jets scored three unanswered goals on the power play in the third period to edge the Icemen 7-6.

Mitch Perrott, Brandon Dubuc (shorthanded) and Cameron Melville lit the lamp in the first against the last-place team in the east standings.

The Jets let a 3-2 lead after 20 minutes slip away as the Icemen (5-20-2) struck twice with the man advantage during a four-goal outburst in the second before Lee Gadoury put the visitors back on track with 3:28 left in the period.

Tyler Hagel, Travis Geislinger and Boe Geslinger rallied the Jets to victory in the third.

The Icemen outshot the Jets 20-8 in the second and 54-38 overall as Mike Brown (12-6, 3.53 GAA) was credited with the win in net.

The next home game is Sunday versus the Beaumont Chiefs (6-17-4) at 6:45 p.m. at Ray McDonald Sports Centre.

Meanwhile, the Jets will be represented at Saturday’s all-star classic in Beaumont by Koben Hammett, Travis McLauchlin, Tyler Tipton and goalie Lawrence Rosychuk in the 1:30 p.m. rookie game and captain Jorden Rooke and Hagel (25 goals in 26 games) in the 4 p.m. all-star game.

Tonight the St. Albert Flyers entertain CAC United Cycle in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.

Faceoff is 7:45 p.m. at Akinsdale.

The Flyers (15-3-4) are 10-0-2 on home ice after handing the north division-leading SSAC Bulldogs their first loss of the season Sunday as affiliate forward Dan Lewis of the REM 15 Royals tallied twice on the power play in the 5-3 victory.

Nate Reinhart (9-2-2, 2.66 GAA) stopped a game-high 47 shots, including 25 in the third period, as the Flyers extended their undefeated streak to eight games at 7-0-1. The team’s last loss was 6-2 against CAC (12-9) Nov. 23 in Edmonton.

The Flyers posted period leads of 1-0 and 4-2 against SSAC (21-1-1).

Joshua Antunes, Leif Mattson and Jack Langenhahn’s empty netter rounded out the scoring.

Captain Marcus Walter added two assists and Mattson’s goal was his league-high 34th in 21 games. He is also the top point producer with 64.

The St. Albert Sabres have two games remaining to put some wins together before hosting the John Reid Memorial Tournament.

Monday’s 2-0 setback to the Leduc Oil Kings (19-5-1) in St. Albert was the second loss during a three-game stretch over four days in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League.

The Sabres (12-10-4) dropped a 4-2 decision to the KC Squires (3-19-2) Friday at Callingwood Arena and posted a 6-0 victory over the Lloydminster Heats (10-12-2) Sunday in the border city.

The Sabres are 2-4-1 after going 5-2-1 in November.

Mitch Reidy (7-4-3, 2.58 GAA) stopped 21 shots against the Heat for his second shutout and the team’s third of the season.

Brady Nicholas and Garrett Clegg potted a pair each, Eddie Gallagher and Ryan Deets also scored and Kyle Gilowski added two assists.

The Sabres are back on the ice Sunday against the SSAC Southgate Lions (16-7-2) at Go Auto Arena and Tuesday they play the Canadian Athletic Club (11-12-1) at 7 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The 37th annual bantam AAA tournament starts Jan. 15 and the Sabres are in the same conference as the Winnipeg Warriors, Colorado Thunderbirds and the 2014 champion Okanagan Hockey Academy.
