The St. Albert Flyers qualified for the semifinals at the minor midget AAA provincials with a winning record in the round robin.
The Flyers were 3-0-1 with one game remaining before the playoff round. The semfinals are scheduled for Saturday and the final goes 1 p.m. Sunday at Max Bell Arena in Calgary.

The provincial draw featured the two finalists and third-place finishers in the north and south playoffs in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.
In the round robin the North Cup champion Flyers defeated Calgary Royals Gold 5-2, tied the Red Deer Chiefs 2-2 and edged the SSAC Bulldogs 3-2 and Lloydminster Rage 5-4.
Friday’s score against the Red Deer Northstar Chiefs was unavailable at press time.
The top goal scorer for the Flyers after four games was Paul Lovsin with six. Brett Smythe was the team’s point leader with eight. Lovsin picked up seven points and Brett Van Os and Matthew Havens had five apiece.
Several teams from St. Albert are competing for medals at various Hockey Alberta championships this weekend.
The Lightning are defending their 2011 atom AA major title in Fort McMurray.
The Rush are shooting for gold in the midget A female tournament at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre.
The Blues and Steel are skating at the bantam AA major provincials in Medicine Hat.
The Bears are entered in the bantam AA minor championship in Lacombe.
The Lancers are playing in the atom AA minor event in Chestermere.

The St. Albert Blues finished the midget AA provincials with three wins and two losses as tournament semifinalists last weekend in Wainwright.
In the round robin the Blues were led by the line of Blair Macuch, Shane Bowzaylo and Casey Reid. Macuch was the leading scorer with seven goals and six assists in four games. Bowzaylo added four goals and six assists and Reid had three goals and six assists.
In the semifinals the Blues lost out to the Calgary Rangers (5-1), the eventual champions.
