The seesaw affair started last week with a 2-0 win by the Raiders in St. Albert as Wyatt Hoflin posted the shutout.

South Side won game two 3-2 Saturday at Bill Hunter Arena. It was 2-1 for South Side when the Raiders gave up a shorthanded goal.

Sunday in game three Trace Elson scored once and picked up three assists in the 5-1 victory in St. Albert. Mitch McNamara, Thomas Foster, Josh Jewel and Tyler Kunz added singles. It was 5-0 when South Side scored.

In league play the Raiders (21-9-4) finished second and South Side (13-17-4) placed fifth in the north standings.

The series winner will play the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers (12-16-6) or the Leduc Oil Kings (24-7-3) in the best-of-five north final. Leduc is the host team for the Telus Cup national championship in April.

The St. Albert Slash swept the Lloydminster Steelers for the right to play the defending champion Edmonton Thunder in the north division final in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.

The Thunder (24-5-3) and Slash (20-7-5) finished first and second, respectively, in the north standings.

In league play the Slash posted a 1-1-2 record against the 2011 Esso Cup national silver medallists.

The Slash are coming off three playoff wins by a combined score of 18-1 against the third-place Steelers (11-17-4).

In game three, a 7-1 Slash win Friday in Lloydminster, the Steelers scored their only goal of the series with 6:07 left in the game and the Slash ahead 7-0. Emily Mitchell stopped 14 shots for her second win in two playoff starts.

Deanna Morin and Jessica Kampjes led Slash in goals with four each in the series. Morin was the top point producer with eight.

Abigail Benning, a bantam AAA affiliate from the St. Albert Lady Raiders, had one goal and three assists in three games.
