Ryan Cox tallied twice and Ethan Crotty recorded 31 saves as the St. Albert Raiders extended their undefeated streak to 11 games Wednesday in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League.

Nick Sutter, Parker AuCoin, Marcus Kichton and Cam Mazur also scored and Ryan Cooper added two assists in the 6-1 decision against the Sherwood Park Kings at Akinsdale Arena.

The Kings spoiled Crotty’s shutout bid on the power play with 4:26 remaining.

Crotty (2-2-2, 3.82 GAA) stopped 20 shots after two periods and the Raiders leading 4-0.

The Raiders were credited with 41 shots against a turnstile of Kings’ goalies.

The fourth-straight win and eighth in 11 games gave the Raiders (10-4-7) sole possession of second place in the north. They are seven points back of the league-leading Canadian Athletic Club (16-2-2) and three in front of the fourth-place Kings (8-5-8) with three games left before the Christmas break.

Tonight the Raiders host the Calgary Royals (11-6-5) at 8 p.m.

The Raiders are 5-3-3 on home ice.

St. Albert Slash settled for one point in Wednesday’s shootout loss to the Edmonton Thunder in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.

Megan Lalor sniped three goals in regulation time but the Thunder potted the equalizer in the third period and scored the only shootout goal to win 4-3 at Terwillegar Community Recreation Centre.

Lalor’s hat-trick padded her AMMFHL-leading goal total to 17 in 20 games. She ranks second in the scoring race with 25 points.

Jamie Jones had two helpers and Natalie Bender (4-5, 2.39 GAA) faced 24 shots against the fifth-place Thunder (10-5-5), the six-time reigning AMMFHL champions and 2014 Esso Cup silver medallists.

The next game for the third-place Slash (12-7-4) is Sunday against the second-place Calgary Fire (14-2-4) at 1:30 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.

Next weekend, the Slash host the Spruce Grove PAC Saints (10-10-2) Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday visit the first-place Red Deer Chiefs (15-4-4), the host team for the 2015 Esso Cup. Sunday is the inaugural Slash Alumni Event from 1:15 to 3:45 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.

The Mac’s midget AAA tournament in Calgary starts Dec. 26 for the Slash.
