The St. Albert Sabres skate at home Sunday against the Sherwood Park Flyers in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League
Faceoff is 3:45 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.
Four points separate the first-place Flyers (7-1-2) and third-place Sabres (5-4-2) in the nitro north division.
The Sabres are winners of two in a row while going 5-2-1 in October after Monday’s 5-2 decision against the KC Squires (1-7-1) in St. Albert.
Eddie Gallagher scored twice and Dylan Wells, Ryan Deets and Garrett Clegg notched singles. Cole Gupta and Martin Rudolf added two assists apiece.
Shots were 45-17 for the Sabres and Mitchell Reidy (2-2-2, 3.51 GAA) was the winning goalie.
The night before the Sabres beat the SSAC Southgate Lions 3-1 at Millwoods Arena.
Clegg registered two goals and one assist, Noah Fayad had one goal and two assists and Brady Nicholas chipped in with two assists.
The Lions outshot the Sabres 33-24 and Reidy was in net.
Clegg and Gupta share the team lead in goals with seven. Clegg is also the top scorer with 13 points.
The last game for the St. Albert Slash before the Fire On Ice Tournament next weekend in Rochester, New York, was Friday against the Peace Country Storm of Grande Prairie.

The Slash (9-6-1) were 5-0-1 on home ice and undefeated in four games in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League after last weekend’s 2-1 win over the first-place Red Deer Chiefs (10-1-3) in St. Albert.
Kennedy Davidson scored the equalizer in the third and was credited with the shootout winner against the host team for the 2015 Esso Cup national championship.
The Slash outshot the visitors 25-17 and Erynn Shantz (6-2-1, 0.95 GAA) was in net.
In the league scoring race, Megan Lalor is tied for second with 16 points in 13 games and ranks second in goals with 10.
League play resumes Nov. 15 for the Slash against the Calgary Fire (8-2-2) at 2:15 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.
The second game in a week between the St. Albert Flyers and the Spruce Grove PAC Saints in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League is on tap today at Grant Fuhr Arena.

Last weekend, the Flyers (6-1-1) handed the Saints (5-1) their first loss of the season, 6-0 at Akinsdale Arena.
Leif Mattson and Marcus Walter both potted a pair, Jack Langenhahn and Robert Putt added singles and Adrian Parth had two helpers.
Chris Curr (2-1-1, 2.08 GAA) stopped 17 shots for the shutout.
Mattson’s 11 goals and 20 points in seven games ranks among the league leaders.
Wednesday the Flyers play the first-place SSAC Bulldogs (9-0) at 8 p.m. at Millwoods Arena.
Meanwhile, the Flyers shared a practice with the St. Albert Warriors, a Special Olympics’ floor hockey team coached by Matt Pedwell, on Tuesday at Sir George Simpson School. The Flyers were no match for the Warriors in the scrimmage.
The Warriors will be the Flyers’ guests of honour at a home game later this month.

The St. Albert Lady Raiders resume their Alberta Major Bantam Female Hockey League schedule this weekend with two games in Grande Prairie.
The Raiders (3-4) are winless in three games and the Peace Country Storm (5-1) are tied for first place in the north standings.
Last weekend, the Raiders suffered a 2-0 loss to the Calgary Outlaws (4-2-1) in St. Albert.
Brady Steinman is the team’s top point producer with eight and is the co-leader in goals with Sophie Lalor at four apiece.
The next home game is Friday versus the Edmonton Lightning (2-1-1) at 8 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.
