The St. Albert Gregg Distributors Sabres have three games in four days on tap in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League, starting Friday against the Canadian Athletic Club.

Faceoff is 8:15 p.m. at Callingwood Arena.

The Sabres (16-3-4) sit second in the nitro north division and the Canadians (10-9-2) are fourth.

The Sabres host the first-place Sherwood Park Flyers (18-2-1) Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena. The Sabres are 7-1-1 on home ice.

The Flyers have lost two in a row but are one point in front of the Sabres with two games in hand.

The Flyers and Sabres are ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the overall standings behind the No. 1 Lethbridge Golden Hawks (19-3-1) and the No. 2 Calgary Bisons (18-2-2).

The Sabres play the KC Squires (8-5-6) Monday at 8:30 p.m. at Clareview Arena.

The third victory in a row for the Sabres was 9-1 against the Maple Leafs (0-21) last weekend in St. Albert.

Stuart Dovey and Blake Sydlowski recorded hat-tricks and captain Brady Nicholas collected four assists as the Sabres outshot the visitors 66-9.

Sydlowski is 14th in league scoring with 34 points in 23 games. Nicolas is the team leader in assists with 25 and second in points with 33 in 17 games. Dovey is the top goal scorer with 20 in 23 games and third in points with 32.

The St. Albert Slash host the Rocky Mountain Raiders during the upcoming weekend homestand in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League.

Game times are 8 p.m. Friday and 7:45 p.m. Saturday at Go Auto Arena.

The Raiders (11-2-2) are third and the Slash (5-10-4) are tied for sixth in the nine-team standings.

The Slash are coming off weekend losses to the first-place PAC Saints (11-2-4) by scores of 2-0 in Spruce Grove and 3-1 in St. Albert.

Alyssa Thacker scored the lone goal for the Slash.

Meanwhile, the second annual Slash Alumni Event is Monday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Go Auto Arena, followed by a social gathering at Skybox Grill.

The inaugural event featured players spanning the inaugural 2004/05 team to the 2014/15 Slash. Team Gold beat Team Blue 7-3 but the Blues won the post-game shootout.

The St. Albert Raiders skate into the Christmas break with two home games this weekend in the Alberta Midget AAA Hockey League.

Start times are 1:45 p.m. Saturday against the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers (7-10-3) and 1:15 p.m. Sunday against the Grande Peace Storm (5-11-4) at Akinsdale Arena.

The last-place Raiders (3-15-2) are 2-7-1 at home after Sunday’s 5-2 loss to the Leduc Oil Kings (8-9-4). It was the same result for the Raiders the day before against the Storm in Grande Prairie.

The St. Albert Flyers swept last weekend’s road trip against the bottom two south division teams in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.

The Flyers (11-5-3), ranked in the north division, posted wins of 8-0 against the SEAC Tigers (2-16-1) of Medicine Hat and 5-2 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes (3-15-2).

Colton Girard (6-3-1, 1.49 GAA) made only 14 saves for his third shutout of the season and Cole Sadownyk’s hat trick and Eddie Gallagher’s three assists paced the attack in Medicine Hat.

Rhys Mazur potted a pair and Cole Gupta, Aiden Yakimchuk and Zach Carlson also scored in the penalty-filled contest.

Ryan Deets struck twice and Mason Rezewski, David Cloutier and Gupta notched singles in the physical affair in Lethbridge. Mitchell Reidy (5-2-2, 2.36 GAA) posted the win with 25 saves.

The Flyers are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games heading into the Christmas break.

The St. Albert Lady Raiders returned home from Grande Prairie with two wins against the Peace Country Storm in the Alberta Major Bantam Female Hockey League.

Scores were 5-3 and 7-5 against the last-place team in the north division.

Elle Boyko stopped a game-high 23 shots and Kendra Johnson scored twice in middle frame in the weekend opener against the Storm (6-8-2).

Andrea Gauchier, Isabelle Lajoie and Aidan Soltis also found the back of the net.

The next game Gauchier registered three goals and one assist, Lajoie chipped in with four assists and Makenna Schuttler deposited two goals in the third period.

Payden Bialowas and Lexie Gratton also scored and Natasha Borrett (24 saves on 28 shots) and Boyko (eight saves on nine shots) split time in net.

The Raiders (7-3-4), winners of three in a row, host the Calgary Outlaws (5-9-2) Saturday at 2:15 p.m. at Go Auto Arena and Sunday they visit the PAC Saints (1-14-1) at 12:45 p.m. at Tri-Leisure Centre.
